Bible group spreads word by SMS

ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) -- "In da Bginnin God cre8d da heavens & da earth," according to a new version of the Bible translated into the text message language of cell phone users.

The Bible Society in Australia launched on Thursday its translation of all 31,173 verses of the Bible in the modern, abbreviated language of text messages, or SMS.

The verses can be accessed over the Internet for free so that the word of God can be spread by cell phone to family and friends, said society spokesman Michael Chant.

Being A Religious Rebel

Salaam

I’ve been talking to my friends recently a lot about this topic…surprisingly its very common.

You may know/heard of girls who used to walk out the house wearing loose/decent clothes and used to change in school and/or at the top of the road…..or them teenagers who used to tell their parents that they’re going to the library or school and would end up somewhere that their parents would never approve off.

Similarly, these days some youth are becoming “religious rebels” instead of being “wild-teenage rebels”.

Being A Muslim

Salaam

For the first few years of our life, most of us obediently and blindly followed our Muslim parents, we had very little choice in this matter…this may have been due to lack of freedom AND knowledge.

However, as we grew older and were exposed to other ideas around us, we no longer blindly followed everything we saw/heard from our family…. We had to go back to Islam in order understand WHY we’re practicing it….

Having this understanding of WHY we're practicing something makes us do it all the more better…

So why are YOU a Muslim? I mean, what’s so great about Islam?

So You Love The Holy Prophet (saw)?

Salaam

Nothing bugs me more then people who adamantly claim then other Muslims don’t love the Holy Prophet (saw)…How on Earth do they know?!

Some people are convinced that they love the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) more then other Muslims?......How did they reach such a conclusion?

Isn’t humbleness one of the true signs of loving someone?

It is true that Muslims MUST love the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) in order to taste the sweetness of Iman.

Testing, Testing

Salaam

Islam preaches that the reason for living is not just to waste time, and enjoy yourself. It is to pass a test. Therefore it stands to reason that not every part of our lives are going to be peasant or easy. Tests never are.

Trials and hardships distinguish the sincere, true believers from the weak ones. They determine who/what we are as people.

Muslims are told that when bad things happen or when things do not go in ones favour, this is due to a number of reasons.

It could serve as expiation for some of our sins.

Are You A Morning Person?

Salaam

I’m not a morning person….I never have been. I sort of “wake up” at night…..if I ever need to work on something I start in the evening cos that’s when I’m most focused and full of energy.

I’ve always struggled to get out of bed before 9.00….and if I am out of bed before nine I’m half asleep….(unlike mum I’m not a chirpy early bird)

Fajr prayer is the most important prayer of the day.

Gutter Mouth

Salaam

Wouldn’t it be correct to say that the way we talk says a LOT about us?

A lot has to be said about a person who can not speak without F’ing and blinding in every sentence.

Many people can not speak without slipping a couple of F words in their speech…regardless of who they’re speaking too.

If they were called to a job interview…or had to speak to their employer or were stopped by the police-or whatever…would it really look good if they slipped a couple of F words in their sentence every now and again?

The Muslim Madonna

Salaam

Some time ago I started a thread up regarding Deeyah…this so called Muslim Madonna who is often seen surrounded by three huge bodyguards, to protect her from people spitting on her, calling her a ***** blinding her with pepper spray, describing in detail how they’re going to cut her up bit by bit and leave her bleeding to death like the dirty, filthy pig they say she is.

I did kinda sympathise with her….its true that she didn’t ever make references to her faith or being a Muslim….and whilst everyone would agree that she is in the wrong violent/physical/verbal attacks on her were N

Adoption

Salaam

The Asian community does have a lot to be proud of…

As a community we welcome strangers into our home, we never leave guests without feeding them, we have unshakable family values and many are fiercely passionate about our culture.

So why is it that when it comes to the idea of adopting a child/baby all alone in the world, we don’t want to know?

Most of us have been lucky enough to have a mum and dad who we’ve taken for granted.

If someone has been trying for years and is unable to have a baby…is there something wrong with adopting a child?
