“All Talk”

Salaam

I know many long winded individuals…the type who have an opinion about everything, the ones who are the first to criticise yet almost never offer to do a better job themselves, they are passionate speakers and can be well…annoying.

They are “all talk and no action”…

We spend a significant amount of time on this forum debating issues, we have an opinion about most things and often get fired up in controversial debates….esp the ones relating to current affairs.

Does anyone ever get the feeling that they are “more talk and less action”…?

Do Not Turn Your Stomachs Into Graveyards

Salaam

Dad did a barbecue last night and barbecued loads of pieces of beef steaks, chicken, kebabs etc

After I’d eaten to my full I began to think about the amount of meat that is consumed in my household…

On a weekly basis we eat meat, chicken, mince, rice with meat/chicken (biryani), some vegetable with meat/chicken and lentils/kidney beans maybe once or twice a week…its rare for two/three nights to go past without meat being cooked. It’d be impossible for a vegetarian to survive in our household.

It’s Too Hot!

Salaam

Its 26c today and its going to get hotter..

I burnt my hand on my car bonnet; I had to drive my car wearing gloves because the steering wheel was too hot to touch.

I can’t sleep at night because the hot sun shines in my bedroom from 2.30 in the morning.

I feel lazy and sleepy….I broke every glass bangle on my hand when taking them off the other night (apparently heat makes hands swell??)

It’s extra hard to stay covered properly these days.

Does anyone else miss the winter?

Wasalaam

Innocence

Salaam

Today in the school I was teaching I had to teach a class of 7year olds the differences between girls and boys.

My teaching was being assessed so I had to make sure that the children “thoroughly understood the concept” then in the end I had to answer their questions…

I had the utmost respect for the parents who had written into the school and requested that their child does not sit in this lesson…but I quickly realised that their parents efforts were in vain because as soon as the children returned to the classes, their peers quickly filled them in with what they missed….and obviously their version of the lesson was incredibly exaggerated and totally incorrect…

Are You A Liar?

Salaam

Imam Bukhari was so pious that he could truthfully say “I have never told a lie”.

Some people are compulsive liars, some people never lie, and others might throw in a white lie every now and again…

In what situations (if any) is it OK to lie?
