Your Fajr Habits

Salaam

How do you get up for Fajr?

Do you jump up as soon as you hear your alarm ring? Do you need TWO alarms to get you up? Does your mum drag you out of bed? Do you keep your alarm away from you so to turn it off you’ll have to walk across the room...Or do you stay awake at night waiting for Fajr?

And how fresh are you when you read your Fajr? Like me, does anyone ever do a sleepy wudu and jump back in bed without even putting the prayer met away? :?

Preaching To Your Elders

Salaam

I don’t like telling anyone what to do…when I want to make a point to someone, I usually invite them a study circle where the issue raised would be the point that I wanted to get across to them….in programmes/lectures/circles etc the style of the Speaker usually isn’t “YOU, should do this…” but “WE, should do this…” or “SOME people do this and its wrong…”

That way individuals do not feel singled out…

That’s what I usually do to younger people…or people around my age.

“Mosque”

Salaam

Did you guys ever attend “Friday Class”…you know, the “Mosque” after school at the end of the week? Or did you guys go to the “Mosque” after school daily for an hour to read Arabic? Or was it weekend school you attended?

I know in many cases most kids didn’t actually attend a “Mosque” but some lady’s house…but this is what nearly all kids used to call it.

Did you go willingly? Were you forced? Did you actually learn anything? Did you ever bunk? Do you STILL have to attend? Did the teachers even know their stuff? Did you take the class seriously?

The Night Journey

Salaam

It’s the month of Rajab atm….the month in which The Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) was blessed with a visit to the heavens…He saw the wonders of His Lord and met Allah (swt)…

If a man has wings of love, he becomes lofty in a way that he can never imagine….In the night of Mira’j, the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) and Angel Gabriel were ascending through the levels of sky , Angel Gabriel stopped suddenly when they arrived in Sidrat al Munteha (the highest place in Paradise) and said , ' I will burn up if I go a step further' .

Adopt A Kid

Salaam

When I was in Year 7 I really looked up to the girls in the years above… Befriending people in the year above boosted the popularity of the younger lot…obviously befriending the older lot was easier if you had an older sibling.

Execution of a teenage girl in Iran

A television documentary team has pieced together details surrounding the case of a 16-year-old girl, executed two years ago in Iran.

On 15 August, 2004, Atefah Sahaaleh was hanged in a public square in the Iranian city of Neka.

Her death sentence was imposed for "crimes against chastity".

The state-run newspaper accused her of adultery and described her as 22 years old.

But she was not married - and she was just 16.

Sharia Law

In terms of the number of people executed by the state in 2004, Iran is estimated to be second only to China.

Hands off Approach

Salaam

Schools are big on the “no touch” policy …I can understand where they’re coming from, but at times its ridiculous how far they go in implementing this policy.

I was working with a boy with behaviour problems…he kept on trying to run out of the school and I was forbidden to touch him, so I stood there watching him run out of the school premises.

In another instance I was working with a kid who’d get violent and hit herself and others….I had to watch, whereas instinctually I would have pinned her down (without hurting her) until she had calmed down.

To Extent Would You Obey Your Parents?

Salaam

In Islam obedience to parents as long as it does not contradict obedience to Allah (swt) is stressed..

Some scholars in the Hanafi madhab state that, if a parent calls a child, and he/she is reading Nafil Salaah, he has to break it and tend to the parents.

How far would you obey your parents? Isn’t it correct to say that some parents are easier to obey then others?

Or does it depend on the situation? Would you obey your parents if they told you which career to take? Whom you should marry? And where you can/cant go?

On Your Marks Get Set…Go!

Salaam

That’s how it feels like when my brother reads his prayer…his head barely touches the floor in sajdah and he’s up again.

How long does it take you to read two Rakahs? Under a min? Two min’s? Three/five min?

Or does it depend on which Salaah you’re reading…for me, my Fajr’s are usually rushed cos I just want to get back in bed :? …yet, I take my time for the prayers I read before bed.

Does your fast lifestyle ever have an impact on how fast you read your prayers?
