heel cannot be classed as haram but can be makruh depending on the heel and how it looks. if it makes a really loud noise and makes people look at you when walking then obviously that is going to be disliked. the same with make up, make up itself isn't haram but the way and how much you apply can be.

I agree with Noor here 100%. Some stiletto heels are very haram to wear outside   However, there are other heeled shoes that can pass the halal test I suppose Wink All matters need to be classed and decided in their context, and we cannot place a blanket ban on an item based on how it is taken outdoors.

im joking about the fight thing btw folks Wink

Its not possible to buy heels that do not make a sound when you walk. I enjoy wearing heels, but dont on account of them being too noisy. :? Its not possible to buy heels with rubber soles/heel caps (to cut out the noise) because they do not exist (on account of my many years of searching). Specialist shoe-repair shops dont even stock on rubber caps for heels.

Flat shoes are very comfortable and good for every-day wear. Some outfits, though deserve to be worn with heels.

Actually you're wrong there. Go to timpsons, they'll ask you what heel you would prefer when you go to get them replaced. I have replaced all my heels with rubber caps-not so much because of the noise-but because rubber heels take longer to get worn down whereas plastic heels wear down within weeks.

So I payed Tipsons a visit. They dont offer rubber heel caps for heeled shoes. Rubber heels is not feasible or workable as rubber is not strong enough to withstand the pressure. They only offer mixed hard plastic and rubber (which is found on many high heeled shoes), (and which do make a racket when walking! ;).

It also harms the back, as has been proven medically.

High heels may well be haram, however the above argument is somewhat incorrect. Perhaps counter-intuitively, the the heel of high heel shoes do not effect the balance of the wearer. It effects the work done by the muscles in the legs but not the balance. Its the front part of the foot which is responsible for the wearer's balance and as long as there is adequate contact between that part of the foot and the ground, balance is not compromised.

As for the damage done to the back, that does occur but I thought people would be interewsted to know, its the smaller heel which cause this damage with the longer ones being less damaging.

Gentleness and kindness were never a part of anything except that it made it beautiful, and harshness was never a part of anything except that it made it ugly.

I wud hav thought its the other way around?

And one more thing: why does a guy know so much abot heels? Has some1 been tryn on his mummys shoes? Biggrin
joke.

When life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it is not reasonable to grieve when it comes to an end.

Should have seen that coming. No, its wikified. Dunno why the smaller heel is more dangerous, it just is. If I can be bothered I might model it as a dynamic system and calculate the resulting mode shapes and analyse the subsequent vibrations...Its not likely though, I already have a final year project. Its a little more masculine too. Biggrin

Sorry, had to LOL at that.

Maybe we shouldn't ever cross the road cos theres a chance of getting run over by a bus. Or go outside cos we might get skin cancer.

aHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I KNEW you would comment on that
I was gonna do the same
thats just absoluetly ridiculous
the answers ppl come up with

it depends on the heel length
besides
guys arent reeeeaaally attracted to a womans shoes
its not the first place they look!
if some girls waling on the street wearing tight jeans n tee with hih heels ye its gonna make her sway like a tramp n attract attention
bu
if ur wearin with trousers n a long coat then not so much

High heels are only reprehensible if they would be considered immodest or attracting undue attention. That would depend on context. Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Sorry, which scholar dude? That guy Umm Hasamuddin mentioned? C'mon man he's not MY scholar dude, I just said I don't know whether he's a "what-the-hell" or a sensible Imam.

Another issue for ppl to consider. A pregnant woman can damage/deform her spine by carrying a child for 9 months. Does that mean to say women shouldnt have children?

Assalaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuhu

You are comparing pregnancy to the issue of of a woman wearing high heels?

SubhaanAllah.

w/salaam
No. Let me explain. The scholar dude said that heels should not be worn coz they pose a danger. I applied his danger theory to pregnancy coz according to him you should not wear or do anything that poses a danger which pregnancy clearly does. However, we know having babies is allowed in Islam and recommended coz of the verse that goes something along the lines of "a house is not blessed without a child".

Sometimes it may be best to let people find their own way.

Keep on correcting people, and the chances that they will rebel will greatly increase.

but the thing is, she used to wear no makeup, then very little and now its gradually becoming more and more, its the same with the heels, she was only allowed very little heels and, over time, the heels got higher and higher. its become embarrassing!

well
if you say tha she shoudn't do that, she'll get really annoyed with you
and ask who you are to be so interfering
but
what u could do, talk to her, n then bring the subject up casually
n be tactful
dont say "this is wrong taht is wrong dont do this taht n the other"
it puts ppl off

Maybe there are self esteem issues at play?

Girls wear makeup for a lot of reasons; force of habit, to fit in, have really bad skin and want to cover it up, taken a fancy to someone and want to attract their attention  etc

The thing is not to go sick at her and tell her that wearing a lot of make up and heels is wrong. Be dead laid back about it. Just say something like "oh ive noticed you started wearing a lot of make up recently. Any particular reason?" But dont say it in a serious way.

Just ask her "who's the guy?"

^^^ she will just deny it. Instead go through her address book in her phone. Ring all her mates. Which ever "girl" sounds like a guy hes the one. Smile

The reason for my version of the question was not to find out who the guy actually is, or even if there is one.

Let me guess its to get her worked up so that she spills as to why she is wearing so much make up :doubt:
