Wanton destruction of Palestine and Lebanon

I was not gonna start this topic.

Just too erm... I got no words to say. Nothing I can do.#

Just hopeless.

Destroying basic infrastructure is collective punishment. Its a breach of basic human rights. Blowing up power stations, water treatment facilities, bridges does not release a single prisoner.

Flying Jets through Syria as a 'gesture' to say you can't, shouldn't, wouldn't do anything is just gross.

And all this makes people angry.

Not the most fluent post ever. Not thinking straight enough to be. I am not angry. Just no idea what to feel. Or think. Or write.

(and I ruin a good topic by making it all me, me, me.)

Human rights dont matter too much in Palestine or Chechnya or Kashmir. You should know that by now.

Maybe Hamas will start "suicide bombings" again if the Israelis continue to destroy Gaza.

vedono who are u, can u please introduce urself in the relevant thread, are u an old member?

The jews have been bombing gaza and killing its ppl despite the hamas ceasefire. Lets get one thing straight - the jews arent going into gaza now and previously they were just minding their own business. Despite the holy hamas sticking with the ceasefire the jews have been continuing their oppression.

But dont worry. ALLAH has dealt with oppressors before and He ta'ala will deal with them again. It is the sunnah of ALLAH and it will come to pass.

Ya ALLAH Madad.

The informal ceasefire by Hamas has ended, I think it was about two weeks ago after the beach killings.

But Hamas has agreed to renew the ceasefire if Israel halts it's attack on Gaza.

Yes we see it on tv everyday but no muslim leader has the guts to stand up for their own brothers and sisters coz theyre being pulled by strings and if one does he is branded a terrorist and eliminated.

The people who are doing all the destruction are not actually the jews but the Zionists who take the comfort of being called jews but dont accept what the true jews believe. This is coz even the jews say 'Isreal' is an illegal state which thrives on the misery and sufferings of its original inhabitants which are the palestininas consisting of muslims, jews and christians.

The zionists have brought terror to the holy land just for their own greedy selfish, money grabbing, interest charging needs, shame on them.
If thats the case why dont i impose and take over someone elses country leave them as a third world state and humiliate them leaving them with no other hope or option but to blow themselves up, because God promised it to them, huh barf pull the other one, that promise has long gone, what the heck is all that about, something straight out of some fairy tale book.

Islam is the Key to paradise but without practice it won't open the gates.

Its a spiral.

I've been refreshing CNN at the office all day in complete disbelief, I don't know what's more frightening that the Israelis are doing this or that the world is letting them.

I understand the need to return the soldier - I also understand the need to hold Hamas accountable for taking him, but launching a full scale invasion mindlessly destroying infrastructure which has nothing to do with the return of the soldier is just using the abduction as a license for destruction. Even tactically this makes no sense.

It's going to destablize the entire region at the worst possible moment in history

He was apparently captured in the south.

The invasion started in the north.

And it is shocking how it is being allowed as you said.

(And from my understanding, the kidnapping had nothing to do with hamas. But the millitant wing of Fatah... or someone associated with them).

Can you see an end game here?

Whatever way I look at it, all I can see is increasing subjugation of the population. No 'victory' in sight, apart from showing overwhelming force. But that will not release a soldier. Maybe get him killed...

They think they can do what they want (Zionists) and to who they want to, Like the creator is not watching over them and recording the mischeif and bloodshed they are causing in the world.

Theres no dialogue with these terrorist no point of negotiating because their hate for arabs and muslims is beyond skin deep and their hate has no justification what so ever.
Then they wonder why all muslims can't stand them and why the Palestininas go and blow themselves.
They have double standards when it comes to zionists 'Isrealis'.

Its okay for 'Isrealis' to occupy someone else's land and opress them but as soon as a muslim protects themselves like in Palestine, Iraq and Afghanistan or Iran they are instantly branded terrorist or insurgents.

When i see Bush on TV giving it all talk about terrorism and grinning i think to myself what a hypocrite.
Didnt his ancestors opress people wern't they terrorist taking over someone else country from the Native Red Indians, making the blacks slave to build 'their' country and declaring war on nearly every country in the world such as Vietnam.
What the hell did the poor Vietnamese people do to deserve what happened to them etc.

They tryed to take over the whole world and they dress it up by calling it concurring and colonialisation. But in my eyez and every God fearing, sensible persons eyez and offcourse every Muslim's eyez we see it as TERRORISM.

Every nation has some point terrorised its neighbours or terrorised their own people like Chinese are doing now or the USSR did to the Afghans. This new false decleration war on 'terrorism' is just an excuse for them to go and declare unjust wars on countries as they please, and do what they want.
Its based upon lie after lie such as Saddam Hussain had WMD and could launch them at anytime. We all knew that was some far fetched properganda tool. Did they find these WMD? NO! Will they ever find them NO. Was there any legitamte reason or excuse to declare war on Iraq and its people NO!

And now when the public cries out and asks that why are you still in Iraq?, bring the troops home!, yet they again come out with another lie.
For example we are here to build Iraq for its people and give them democarcy, you fools Iraq has one of the oldest civilisations going.
You are the one who appointed Saddam Hussein and armed him with military capabilities and as soon as he turns around and sticks his middle finger up at you, you attack his country.
I hate Saddam i think he has blood on his hand but take him out don't go attacking the innocent Iraqis, over 40,000 have died how many more have to.

Watch nothing is gonna get built, the only thing that is gonna get built is their bank balance and more bloodshed on the streets of Iraq. (Inshallah no more have to suffer)
Tommrow they will find another 'terrorist' that they must eliminate and when he is eliminated they will have to eliminate another terrorist. Its a spiral when is this shit gonna stop! When will we have peace in this world.

They also have public backing because they have manipulated and brainwashed their own people from lies after lies to back their false struggles. News 24 hours around the clock to spread lie after lie who try to justify these wars. Media has become a tool for war and many people say that it kills more people then bullets do. All you need is one lie.
They don't even realise the consequences of their actions.

By attacking any country they please thay are creating more 'terrorist' or in my eyes freedom fighters protecting their land from invasion.
Would'nt America do the same if Iran attacked their country tommorrow, wouldnt the American people fight the invasion and opression or would they just sit there? like they expect the Palestinians to.
Doesnt mankind have a right to defend themselves from invasion?
This right has been given down by the Divine so no man has the right to take it away.

When you point the finger always remember 3 are pointing back at you.

Talk about double standards.

Islam is the Key to paradise but without practice it won't open the gates.

Israel has now said that the Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniya is a target for assassination but despite this he still went to the Friday prayers in Gaza City.

I personally think that killing the Israeli soldier and not kidnapping him would have caused less chaos. As you're only hearing about the Israeli soldier who was kidnapped and not the soldiers who were killed.

Israeli aircraft have launched an attack on the office of the Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniya, witnesses have said.

The attack comes during an Israeli incursion into Gaza after one of their soldiers was abducted last week.

Witnesses said two missiles hit the south side of the building, which was empty, starting a fire.

There were no immediate reports of casualties in the attack, which took place at 0145 local time (2245 GMT).

Gaza assault 'may be open-ended'

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has warned that Israel's offensive in Gaza to free a captured soldier and stop rocket fire could continue indefinitely.

"This is a war that cannot be on a timetable," Mr Olmert is quoted as telling Israel's cabinet.

Israel pressed on with air strikes on Sunday, wounding several Palestinians, including militants and civilians.

Scores of Palestinians have died in the two-week old campaign, which has also battered Gaza's infrastructure.

Most of the dead have been militants, although civilians have also been killed.

In the latest violence, Israel fired missiles at a car carrying Hamas militants near Gaza City on Sunday night, wounding five people.

The vehicle, which was carrying explosives, then blew up.

A second attack targeted a building which the Israeli military said was used as a weapons depot by the militant group Islamic Jihad.

Earlier, Palestinian sources said a bystander died and several others were hurt in an air strike which Israel said was aimed at militants in the town of Rafah in southern Gaza.

At least three militants were also wounded in an Israeli air strike near the Karni border crossing, Palestinian sources said, while at least one Israeli was injured in one of two Palestinian rocket strikes on Israel.

'No re-occupation'

Mr Olmert told ministers Israel's offensive would continue for as long as it took to secure the release of 19-year-old Gilad Shalit and stop cross-border rocket attacks.

"There is no intention to reoccupy Gaza in order to stay there, but if certain operations are needed they will be carried out.

"We will operate, enter and pull out as needed," he was quoted as saying.

Israeli forces withdrew from northern Gaza on Saturday, but remain east of Gaza City and in the south of the Strip.

Israel's southern region commander meanwhile hinted that Israel's operations could continue for weeks.

"They [Palestinian militants] will think twice before launching attacks when they see in a week, a month or two months from now that hundreds of terrorists have been killed," said General Yoav Galant.

On Sunday the Israeli army disclosed that a Israeli soldier shot dead in northern Gaza on 28 June was killed by friendly fire.

Staff Sergeant Yehuda Bassel, Israel's only military fatality since the start of the Gaza offensive, was initially suspected to have been shot by a Palestinian sniper.

'Disaster' warning

On Saturday, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan demanded that Israel take urgent action to prevent a humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip.

Mr Annan's statement was his second in as many days about the situation in Gaza.

The BBC's Richard Galpin at the UN in New York says Mr Annan is clearly becoming increasingly alarmed by what is happening and is becoming increasingly blunt in his statements.

In a separate statement, UN agencies including the World Health Organization, Unicef and the World Food Programme said Gaza was on the brink of a public health disaster.

Israel army enters central Gaza

Israeli ground troops and armoured vehicles have crossed the border into central Gaza in an expansion of their offensive in the Palestinian territory.

The soldiers have moved into farmland east of Khan Younis, the BBC's Alan Johnston in Gaza said, although reportedly just a few hundred metres.

An air raid has been reported in Gaza City by local residents.

The massive Israeli operation is aimed at releasing a captured soldier and halting Palestinian rocket attacks.

Local witnesses said that two air raids early on Wednesday targeted a house and a car in the Sheikh Redwan district north of Gaza City.

Negotiations refused

The two-week offensive has left over 50 Palestinians dead. Most of the dead have been Palestinian militants, but civilians have also died under Israeli fire and air strikes.

One Israeli soldier has also been killed during the confrontations.

Cpl Gilad Shalit was captured by Palestinian militants during a raid on an Israeli border post on 25 June.

The militants, along with exiled Hamas leader Khaled Meshaal, have been insisting that Cpl Shalit only be handed over in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has ruled out any negotiations with the Hamas-led Palestinian government, calling the militant group a "terrorist bloody organisation".

Essentials running low

Israeli defence sources say that Mr Olmert and Defence Minister Amir Peretz gave the military a green light for "in depth" incursions into the Gaza Strip earlier on Tuesday.

There are warnings that the military crisis could trigger a major humanitarian problem in Gaza, which is already having to deal with a Western aid embargo against the government led by Hamas, which is viewed as a terrorist organisation.

Reports in the Israeli media say supplies of essential goods such as flour and cooking oil are within days of running out, unless Israel reopens border crossings and allows free flow of good.

Israel withdrew settlers and troops from Gaza last September after a 38-year presence, though it kept control of its airspace and most borders.

Been an interesting day today.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

Am I the only one showing any interest in what is happening atm?

(it may be sick twisted interest, but it is still interest.)

Plenty of people dies today. And there was an unpredicted twist.

Atleast Hezbollah can defend themselves. Unlike the helpless Palestinians which the world had abandoned, hoping they would be shoved under some carpet somewhere. hidden.

And I am surprised noone has thought to criticise dropping large warheads in highly populated areas. who would have thought dropping a half tonne bomb would kill innocents? (9 children to be precise...) Let me guess, the excuse will be it was precision guided... into a densly populated area where it exploded killing many.

But now it is wide open. Already escalated to Lebanon. Possibilities of further escalation. Further death and destruction.

Anarchy is interesting.

Given what Israel has done in the past this is no surprise.

But its easier to flog helpless people than people with even a small hope of inflicting some damage.

I think Gaza should simply be incorporated into Israel.

It would benefit everyone.

Israel would get trillions of dollars of help to absorb the Palestinians into society; and the Palestinian would have citizenship of Israel.

They wouldn't be bombing each other.

They would live happily ever after.

I think if they allow a vote, most Palestinian would opt for this option.

Omrow

Omorw, I commend you're attempt at peace brockering, but that's just silly.

Israel doesn't want Palestinians in Israel. It want's to maintain the Jewish majority.

Palestinians don't want to become part of Israel. Enough of their land is already Israel. They want their own state.

And the land that was stolen from them, many of whom have rejected Israeli compensation, if they were ever made an offer.

Israel hits Palestinian ministry

Israeli jets have attacked the Palestinian foreign ministry building in Gaza, wounding at least 10 people living nearby.

Israel said the pre-dawn raid was aimed at Foreign Minister Mahmoud Zahhar, who it accused of complicity in the capture of an Israeli soldier two weeks ago.

Earlier, Mr Zahhar said negotiations were the only way to end the crisis.

The latest attacks in Gaza came as Israel stepped up action against the Hezbollah militia in Lebanon.

Hezbollah guerrillas captured two Israeli soldiers on Wednesday, and killed eight when Israel sent troops into southern Lebanon on a rescue mission.

Overnight Israeli jets hit targets across southern Lebanon and struck Beirut's international airport, forcing it to close. By Thursday morning a land and sea blockade was in force.

In Gaza, where militants have held Cpl Gilad Shalit captive for two weeks, at least 23 civilians have died since Wednesday morning, including nine in one family whose Gaza City home was bombed.

The leader of Hamas's military wing was among the injured in that attack.

The strike against the foreign ministry occurred at 0130 local time (2230 GMT Wednesday), when the building was likely to have been empty.

Parts of the five-storey building were destroyed, and there was widespread damage to nearby areas.

There were no reports of injuries inside the ministry, but at least 10 people, including several children, were injured in nearby homes, Palestinian medics said.

Israel confirmed the air strike on the Palestinian foreign ministry, and accused Mr Zahhar and Hamas of direct involvement in "terrorism and violence".

"He had knowledge of the recent hostage taking, and he is part of a leadership that has orchestrated rocket attacks, countless rocket attacks, countless missile attacks against Israeli urban areas," said government spokesman Mark Regev.

But the BBC's Wyre Davies, in Gaza City, says that before the attack Mr Zahhar gave a series of media interviews suggesting both sides needed to make a deal.

Speaking after the attack, Mr Zahhar, who has survived previous attempts on his life, appeared unfazed.

"Everybody here is wanted by Israel, everybody is a target, every house is a target and every tree is a target. This is the destructive system built in what is called Israel," he said.

The family of nine killed on Wednesday were hit in an Israeli air strike which targeted the Gaza City home of Hamas military commander Muhammad Deif.

Hamas denied he was in the house at the time, but the BBC has learnt that he was in fact injured in the attack.

Some 80 Palestinians and one Israeli have died since Cpl Shalit, 19, was seized at a border post.

Israel says its offensive is designed to free Cpl Shalit and end rocket attacks on southern Israel by Palestinian militants.

And it won't be able to rely on the UN if it was invaded.

No oil. No Desert Storm.

The UN is preety useless when "President Bush defended Israel's attack" and said that "Israel has the right to defend herself".

Israel have so far:

1) Bombed the only international airport in Lebanon so diverting all flights to Cyprus.
2) Carried out air raids on southern Lebanon, which killed at least 48 civilians.
3) Bombed the Hezbollah television station al-Manar in southern Beirut, injuring three.
4) Bombed the main Lebanese army air base in Bekaa Valley.

Rockets hit Israeli city of Haifa

Two rockets have struck the Israeli city of Haifa, hours after a threat by the militant Lebanese group Hezbollah.

Hezbollah denied firing any rockets at the northern port city. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

Haifa, Israel's third largest city, is more than 30km (18 miles) from the Lebanese border and was thought to be out of Hezbollah's range.

Later, Lebanon's international airport was hit for a second time as Israel continued attacks by land, sea and air.

At least one fuel tank was set ablaze in the attack.

The Beirut airport was already closed following Israeli air strikes earlier on Thursday.

Israel imposed an air and sea blockade of Lebanon following the capture of two of its soldiers by Hezbollah militants on Wednesday.

About 50 Lebanese people, mostly civilians, have been killed in the raids.

Hezbollah had said it would attack Haifa if Israeli planes bombed Beirut.

It has fired dozens of rockets into Israel in the past two days, but none have so far gone further than 20km (12 miles) inside the country.

At least two Israelis have died in the attacks and dozens have been injured.

In the latest reported attack, Israeli police said two rockets had fallen on a Christian area of Haifa called Stella Maris.

The Israeli ambassador in Washington, Danny Ayalon, described the Haifa incident as a "major escalation" of the crisis.

He said the international community should make it clear to Iran and Syria - who both have links with Hezbollah - that they were "playing with fire".

Meanwhile the UN Security Council has arranged an emergency meeting for Friday at Lebanon's request.

Lebanese ministers have called for a ceasefire with Israel, saying that all means should be used to end "open aggression" against their country.

International calls for restraint are growing, with Russia, France and the EU saying Israel's response to the capture of two soldiers was disproportionate.

US President George W Bush described Hezbollah as a "group of terrorists who want to stop the advance of peace".

Speaking in Germany, he said Israel had the right to defend itself, but its action should not weaken the Lebanese government.

Israeli government spokesman Mark Regev said Israel was responding to "an unprovoked act of aggression" by Lebanon.

The offensive follows a day of heavy fighting in which the Israelis suffered their worst losses on the border for several years.

Eight soldiers were killed and two were injured, in addition to the two captured in a Hezbollah ambush.

The operation comes as Israel continues a separate offensive in the Gaza Strip. An Israeli soldier was captured there last month.
