Imam Shafi'i (ra)

I've come across some great words from Imam Shafi'i and thought I'd share some.

Feel free to add quotes/stories

All humans are dead except those who have knowledge;
and all those who have knowledge are asleep,
except those who do good deeds;
and those who do good deeds are decieved ,
except those who are sincere;
and those who are sincere are always in a state of worry.

This is what you call Hayya

My 3yr old cousin was on the floor just rolling about when I noticed her trousers were ripped pretty badly.

So I pointed it out and started laughing and she was just like "no they're not ripped!" and quickly got up trying to cover the fact.

But then she gave in and let my mum fix them for her.

In the mean time she had no trousers on and there was just me and her 7yr old sister in the room.

Duas for forgiveness

The Prophet Muhammad said, the one who repents for a sin is like the one who has not committed a sin (al-Bayhaqi and Ibn Majah). Peace and blessings be upon him.

Ramadan, according to one Hadith, is divided into three parts. Its beginning is mercy, its middle is forgiveness and its end is freedom from the Hellfire. As we are currently in the days of forgiveness, we thought it would be worthwhile to share a couple of supplications (Duas) from the Quran and Hadith whereby we can ask God's forgiveness. We have also included some suggested Duas of our own that you can use at the bottom of this article.

From the Quran

Rabbanaa faghfir lana thunoobana wa kaffir 'anna sayyiaatinaa wa tawaffanaa ma 'al abraar.

Dua

O Allah! You shower favours on everyone
And no one can do You any favour.
O The Possessor of Majesty and Honour,
O The Distributor of bounty and rewards,
There is no one worthy of worship except You.
You help the fallen
And provide refuge to the refugees
And give peace to those who are in fear.

O Allah! If in the Mother of All Books that is with You
You have written me down as someone who is
Doubtful of achieving salvation, or deprived,
Or rejected or without enough sustenance,
Then, O Allah, with Your Grace
Remove all of these misfortunes from me
and in the Mother of All Books that is with You,
establish me as someone who is
blessed, with abundant provision and charitable good deeds.
Indeed, what You said in The Book You sent
