When will it be Eid - Sunni v Wa'abi

When will we celebrate Eid?
Will we all celebrate it on the same day? probably not!!! I ask why dont we just have one day for the whole of the UK? When some mosques follow Saudi, it is outrageous.

btw - i am a sunni and there is no way my mosque will even think about celebrating it on the same day as the neighbouring Wa'abi mosque...

Eid Al-Adha & Hajj

By: Dr. Ahmad Shafaat

`Eid Al-Adha falls on the 10th day of the 12th month (Dhul Hijjah) of the Islamic calendar. This is the day when the pilgrims gather in Makkah by the millions come, after having completed many of the essential rites of Hajj, out of ihram and out of the restrictions that go with ihram (e.g. the restriction against putting on perfume, cutting nails or cutting beard or other hair).

The Prophet (saw) ordered women to attend Eid Salaah?

I read this in an online translation of :

Narrated Um 'Atiya:

We used to be ordered to come out on the Day of 'Id and even bring out the virgin girls from their houses and menstruating women so that they might stand behind the men and say Takbir along with them and invoke Allah along with them and hope for the blessings of that day and for purification from sins.

While there are (sometimes?) arrangements made for women to attend fridays prayers, is this also the case for Eid prayer, or is this much rarer - or even unheard of?

Last Year…
1000’s of animals were sacrificed on your behalf in countries around the world. Meat was distributed in packets. As a result 1000’s of people who are too poor to consume meat were given a chance to incorporate the nutritional benefits of fresh meat into their diet. This year Minhaj Welfare Foundation is performing Qurbani’s {cows, sheep, and goats} in 18+ Countries Worldwide.

Approaching Ramadan

By Imam Zahid Shakir
As we eagerly anticipate the beginning of the Blessed Month of Ramadan, the staff of Zaytuna Institute wishes all of our volunteers, friends, and supporters an accepted and purifying fast. We pray that this blessed month is a time of spiritual renewal for all of you, a time when you are able to fully benefit from the many Divine Gifts that have been offered to the worshipper during this most special season. Those who have failed to take advantage of the months of Rajab and Sha’ban to prepare for the blessed month of Ramadan should be especially careful to take full advantage of the latter month. Reflect on the poet’s words:

Harken! O you who was not content to sin throughout Rajab.

The Revival's Guide to Ramadan

You mean you can't eat ANYTHING? Not even drink water? Isn't that like bad for you?

Yep, when Muslims fast for the 30 days in the month of Ramadan from dawn till dusk they can't eat or drink anything throughout Ramadan.

Fasting is not bad for your health, even Celebs occasionally fast (they call it (detox), abstaining from food and drink cleans out your insides, gives your digestive system a rest and causes harmful chemicals to be flushed out of your system.(1)

30 whole days?! You'd die!

Ermm¦ No you wouldn't. Muslims are required to fast from dawn to dusk. The fast begins just before dawn when Muslims eat a light meal (suhoor) and confirm their intention to fast for the day; the fast ends at sunset.
