**ED LOVES TIGERS!**

In a recent study conducted at Dartmouth College of Hanover New Hampshire 1 out of every 1 person polled found that Tigers are "better" than Dolphins.

Everybody say "Hi Bob!"

Bob is a Tiger, and a closer personal friend of mine - so I thought i'd embarass him by strolling through a few of his more embarassing memories.

As a young cub - Bob was a bit of a mommas boy:

Dealing with People you do not like

Dealing with people you can not stand

by Rick Brinkman and Rick Kirschner

Studies show that people, who like their jobs, feel appreciated for what they do and who they are. Problem people usually do not like what they do. To communicate effectively with other people, you must have some understanding of what matters most to them. By observing behavior and listening to communication patterns with the difficult people, you can recognize their primary intents.

Every behavior has a purpose, or an intent, that the behavior is trying to fulfill.

Creationism v. Evolution

I've recently given up on the Creationist absolutist position. While i'm convinced of the merits of Evolution I do think that this means Creationism shouldn't be taught in schools - though that has more to do with a Constitutional argument.

I'm not sure what the Islamic belief of the creation of the world is but assuming from what you have said about adam and eve before I am sure it is at least acceptably similar to the Christian story in this instance.

Is there anybody here who embraces creationism based on scientific grounds rather than religious belief? And, if you could, share whatever that scientific basis is with us.

Lasting Impact of the Persian Empire on Central Asia

As we travel around Central Asia, we see that Persia - not Iran - is everywhere. The Persia of Cyrus the Great spread from Ephesus to Kabul, and from the Sinai to the Syr Daria river (today in Uzbekistan). Since these times, Central Asia's identity has been played around Persia. The southern part of today's Central Asia is nothing less than Transoxiana. The long Persian domination extended to Afghanistan - the former Bactria. It left a heritage more lasting than any political construct: the Persian language, used from the Moghul court in India to Uzbek clans.

Kashmir Past and Present

Med's mentioned Kashmir many times - I believe if i'm not mistaken you said you are Kashmiri, or you have relatives there.

I am not familiar with Kashmir past or present so i'll just post the wikipedia article and yall can add and refute anything you don't agree with.

Also post news from Kashmir here - i'm interested in the region and know virtually nothing about it.

Pacificism in Islam

Obviously muslims do not agree across the board on a large swath of issues so i'm curious if there is any islamic school of thought that embraces the idea of absolute Pacifism, and how they justify this as an islamic belief.

Also what do you guys think of the idea in general?

Reading too Closely

I'm notoriously awful at making serious threads, I usually have 4 or 5 redundant questions with over explanation in between each one.

So i'm just going to keep this short and sweet.

How do you tell somebody they are missing the point without insulting them? The people who try to figure out how many angels fit on the head of a pin - or how old the world is based on minor or unimportant biblical dates and times?

Vote them off the Island

I think there should be more forum input into banning.

Obviously not too much - not even a controlling vote, since that is dangerous - but something.

The response yesterday was sluggish - for an event we all knew was coming, banning the visiting whackjob.

As a result two valued members were insulted and the forum was bitterly disappointed by the mods for not indulging us a little sooner.

There is nothing in the Rules about forum input on banning or removing people who are disruptive - but there is also nothing about a three strikes rule.

If we are going to impliment this new thr

Waziristan

I'm unfamiliar with Waziristan and the present war between it and Pakistan - I know some basic rudimentary stuff but that's about it.

Who are the Waziris? Are they a tribe, ethnicity, a former nation?

Does Waziristan have hard borders?
