How Muslims killed Dracula

Born in the Ottoman Principality of Wallachia, Romania in 1435 AD, he was known as Radu al III-lea cel Frumos to his Romanian countrymen, Yakışıklı Radu Bey to the Turks, Radu al-Wasim to the Arabs, and Radu the Handsome in English. This ally and childhood friend of Sultan Mehmet II was instrumental in the conquest of Constantinople for Islam. Radu’s participation in that conquest ensured that Mehmet II would go down in history as “Fatih,” or “Conqueror.”

Radu was the Ottomans’ secret weapon against the Safavids to the East and the Serbs, Romanians and Hungarians to the West. The Muslim world owes much to this hero of Islam, yet they recorded little other than cursory references to him, perhaps for fear of taking away from Fatih Sultan Mehmet’s limelight. The Byzantines recorded Radu as a reviled despot due to their hatred for his conversion to Islam and instrumental role in ending the Byzantine Empire.

Yet, this Ottoman general had a greater war, a war against darkness. He hunted the very progenitor of the vampire legend who impaled his enemies and drank their blood – Vlad al III-lea Ţepeş, also known as Vlad Drăculea, who would go down in infamy as, simply, Dracula. The character of Professor Abraham Van Helsing was no more than a figment of Bram Stoker’s terrifying imagination, but Sultan Mehmet II and Radu cel Frumos were perhaps the first and only true vampire hunters in history.

read it.

this is better (or worse) than an actual movie written with a script and storyline!

it feels so unreal, Dracula was seriously twisted, i wonder if they did any psychological research on his behaviour...

i cant believe it, the sultan cannot keep on with the hunt, not understanding the mind of this twisted bloodsucker, he gives over the task to the only man who knew how their enemy's mind worked. his very own brother.

Now Radu rides on towards his fate... [you'll just have to read it! ]

the only bit moviemakers would change, is maybe make the brothers TWINS. and of course, we need some kind of love story..damsel in distress under Dracula's command who gets saved by his brother, the Valiant Radu!

why havent they made a movie out of this yet?

and TRANSYLVANNIA!?!?

and yes, i thought i could get away with not looking up what impaled mean, but i had to...

oh! and the bit where hardly anyone deserts the army, that would have been one of themse goosebump moment!

oh! and the RETURN of the Sultan! now! thats something!!!, you think the "movie" will star t soon with Radu killing his brother, but no...and you're left confused and the screen goes dark, then you see then a whole HOUR of the movie is left and the words "TWELVE YEARS LATER" appear!!!

i watch too many movies...

and of course the gory bit, to show that all guys are the same..urgh honey...

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

This is a common theme in Ottoman armies.

Even when routed, the soldiers would follow their orders and not panic.

You will notice this mentioned this also mentioned in the where the Ottoman soldiers of the 57th infantry regiment who had run out of ammunition were given very specific orders:

I do not expect you to attack, I order you to die. In the time which passes until we die, other troops and commanders can come forward and take our places.

All were made shaheed and in their honour, the modern Turkish army does not have a 57th regiment.

There was also the assault in WW1 against the russians, , that went astoundingly horribly where the soldiers were badly equipped to fight and badly equipped against the weather. Once again, there was no panic, no chaos, they did their jobs as ordered even if it was to their deaths.

The only time I ave read about disunity or chaos at the time of battle (as opposed to other times like the jannisseries' revolt) was the defence of Gaza where the soldiers even though they had defended it twice were demotivated for the third defence (mainly due to the arab revolt I would guess, as some arabs had abandoned them and were fighting alongside the enemy) which they eventually lost.

Sometimes reality can be stranger than fiction.

Atleast we now know the truth behind the legend.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

I like that website.

Does it use the same features as therevival?

I doubt it does, but that does not mean similar features cannot be developed on the different base platforms.
