1984: Arise Eurasia!

In the book 1984, George Orwell wrote about a future where people were ruled by a police state and the majority of the world was controlled by three super powers:

1. Oceania
2. Eurasia
3. East Asia.

Roughly translated, Oceania would translate down to the American empire (including Britain - it was considered by the author to be culturally similar to the rest of Oceania and too differnet from the others for Eurasia to really want to take over.)

a European/west Asian state (the EU excluding Britain, including maybe Russia and some of the middle east) was givven the name of Eurasia.

The third was East Asia which we can be equated to china's rising/expected influence.

From these three, the state currently furthest from realisation is "Eurasia" - and this probably may never exist as europe joining with Russia and also Turkey may be a problematic idea.

However there can be a "European Eurozone state" that would be half of the imagined Eurasia - Russia and Turkey have smaller fields of influence, but remaining separate.

Europe has been on a slow path to integration but with the current eurozone financial crisis, this integration has been speeded up and now we have a British PM who is looking to veto additional power to the EU, which will push Britain even closer to Oceania, I mean USA.

To counter this, the Eurozone countries are considering tighter integration with a new treaty, which would not apply to all EU members effectively sidelining the USA and getting closer to a central european state - the financial side will become more integrated but the politics will remaion divided, but over time this can be coalesced into a federal super state which is much more united.

(I would suggest that like most westerners, George Orwell discounted the middle east too much and there can eventually maybe another empire there, similar to how there have been in the past and Russia as its own power cannot be ignored - it may have once had joint heritage with Europe, but this I suspect has drifted off quite a bit since the fall of the tsars a century ago.)

Comments

Britain feels a little isolated and sidelined today as except for the UK, which wielded its veto.

Another way to look at it: The German Empire rises again.

this is way too political..

anyway, can we talk about the forming of pakistan, bangladesh and india? was it all one country and then the britishs and their divide and rule tried to be nice and all and divided before leaving the place?

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

It was separate kingdoms etc that were all conquered/subjugated by the British and united into the British Raj.
