what's your favourite jam?

sometimes, a piece of baguette, a thick-ish layer of butter and a sweet strawberry jam spread is all you need for breakfast.

(and warm banana milk)

i like blueberry jam the best, then all homemade jams (i once had rhubarb and orange - yum!), then Asda's mix fruit jam. strawberry is always the safe bet..can get boring though.

orange marmalade is so....bleurgyurgy! its so grown up.

what's the craziest jam you've ever had? or heard of?

ive had rose jam. and date jam. they're pretty tasty. the problem with jams is that when you dont have it often and it stays in the fridge and then mould grows and its ruined and its so sad. how can one conserve already opened jam pots when one doesnt often consume jam [and so it stays in fridge for long and moulds over].

because of that above problem ive taken to only opening one pot of jam at a time, which can be boring.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Best jam I've ever seen was Dr John playing Such A Night with The Band in The Last Waltz.

I've got a lavender jam in the kitchen, that I bought in Cornwall, still in its gift-wrapping. I'd better give it to someone or open it before it gets old. The lady I bought it from also makes rose jam and gorse jam. I do munch gorse petals when I see it but they don't taste of much, vaguely bitter. I asked her if her jams weren't basically just sugar and pectin and she looked a bit perturbed but didn't argue.

mum made jam...just sugar i think. and boiling glass pots.

lavender jam...cnt taste that right now.

have you ever seen like..froth on plants? i saw it on this lavender bush that was spilling over someone's front garden, white froth, then i kept walking and later saw it on that plant that climbs adn clings to everything. i was about to stop, i kinda did stop and then SUDDENLY this person on a bike appears [while this road was just people free ALL this time...]] and so i didnt linger..especially as the plant was climbing onto the park enclosure and it might look like i was perving at some people inside. well, im sure the biker didnt care, just that. urgh. society and norms and values and crap like that.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Biker perv!

The main cause of that froth is little insect larvae feeding along the stem and using the spittle for cover. They don't usually do a lasting damage and it's just a passing phase in their life-cycle.

A lot of plants climb and cling and are called vines. It is probably an ivy.

Some feedback on your other posts: I do know very well what it is to get down but rather than engage on the subject and dwell in misery I will recommend you don't bother with that and stick to happy interests, ambitions, and what's good about you. Now and then it's still nice to air a specific gripe, and sometimes one can't stop oneself, which is all fine, but don't feel you need to define yourself by low moods. When you're having a good day it's better to look at those posts and go "what was I thinking?" than to go through it all.

Always feel free to take me with a pinch of salt.
