RE: the danger of covering for men.

at first i didnt really get the title. but i think its slowly making sense... Biggrin

here are extracts that i found really thought provoking and that i wanted to share.

I looked out at the audience. “This is hijab, ladies. And no, it’s not for men. It’s for you. It protects you from yourself, and keeps you focused on what you need to be focused on whenever you go out. Instead of,” I smiled humorously, “distracting yourself while you hope to distract others.” I paused. “And perhaps regretting it for the rest of your life.”

At this point my mind was "buzzing" with this new idea. well its not really new...it's just that I never said it outloud or never formulated it that way it my head. or never saw it written down (maybe i did..but it hadnt hit me the way this did: hijaab is to help ME stop distracting MYSELF. wouaw.

Whatever Allah asks us to do—whether we are male or female— its purpose is to purify our own souls. But its benefit is for the society as a whole.

well..this gobsmacked me so much i created Biggrin ..but it seems no one cares as there is NO COMMENT Cray 2

Our first response to any question of why we do something should be simply that Allah told us to. Thereafter we are free to, as I did with the college audience, give an analogy to demonstrate some benefit or wisdom. But we should never imagine that the benefit or wisdom we see is the reason we do something in Islam.

woups..also quoted that in the other blogpost but never mind. It's just amazing, this article just hit me like a massive truck! I've said it often; "everything we do is for Allah" i dont know if it was the effect of being told or just I dont know..right frame of mind, right time, right article and i can only say ALHAMDOULILLAH!

but this is it. this will inshaaAllah reduce the length of even the number of arguments I might have. (not that i debate on aregular basis with non-muslims etc...) but yeah "why do you do this, why do you do that" "My Lord told me to"

It doesn’t take “rocket science” to see that there is a correlation between the more women cover and the less fitnah they are for men.

But it is also true that there is a correlation between how much a woman covers and the less she is a fitnah for herself.

wouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. wouaw. wouaw. I'll come back to this when the wouawness wears off. just...wouaw.

Unfortunately, nearly all crimes against humanity have as their root the shift from doing things for the sake of Allah, to doing things for the sake of people.

so its all about intention, we need to rectify our intention!! its an urgent need. It's the only way for us to get back on track, to make our actions worthwhile and worthy. simply. rectify our intention.

I’ve felt for quite some time that if we continue to ask women to “obey Allah” by convincing them how much men will benefit from it, a harmful, indelible scar is left on their psyches…

As well as men’s.

so. Girlies. we dont cover for guys. We cover for us. but. it benefits guys. whenever you have a lowdown and you REALLY wanna wear that dress that at the back of your mind you think is just a tad too short..or a tad to tight, just remember. Why do you wanna wear it for? if you know..deep inside..thats its a lil bit too short..too tight... why wear it? dont tell me you havent got ANOTHER dress...or ANOTHER...or maybe that one? what about this one? commmoooooon. for your own good, your own honour and dignity, get that other OTHER one over there!

PS: at first, i thought the title was referring to the "men hijaab" and how it was dangerous for them to cover and was like "whhhaaaaa? maybe its meant to be challenging or something" but no..its actually..the danger of GIRLS covering for THE SAKE of men. I hear you say "aaaaaaaah" just like i did.

There is a which also covers it from a personal angle where "men" are not to blame.

A very good read.

could you be...using my blog for publicity?!

/hay and pitchfork.

...and then there was fire.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Smile i really like the message you're putting out here. Not just about the hijab but about doing things for the sake of Allah. Alot of people try to put their own wisdom and reasons behind why Allah ordered us to do things. No matter how much it makes sense to an individual only Allah swt knows why He puts obligations upon us. Unless Allah swt tells us why, we shouldn't put our logic and rational thought behind these actions.

Allah swt orders us to do things for our benefit and in the obligatory acts there are many blessings but we don't truly know the divine wisdom behind it. I'm sure as individuals we all benefit differently in this life from each act of worship and we can never say which is right and which is wrong. These are all a personal benefit that Allah swt has blessed a person with through an act of worship.

The main point IMO is that we do it purely for the sake of Allah and that insha Allah our rewards lie in the hereafter.

........did any of that make sense? Ahh well. Thanks Lilly (hopefully everyone got what you were saying atleast) it makes sense.

I like the 2 scenarios and I think you need to read the article to understand the stuff you've copied and pasted. (Although I didn't read it all tbh)

But it mentions that the main reason you give for doing something is FSA. Yes that is how it should be but I think if you're talking to an Atheist you would also add the rational reasons too cuz I think some of them would find you doing it cuz Allah (swt) ridiculous. Of course it doesn't matter much what they think but it's better dawah this way and it would help them understand it more.

He gave as evidence the story of a woman coming to ask the Prophet, sallallaahu’alayhi wa sallam, a question. One of the Companions was with the Prophet when she came, and the Companion kept staring at her, overcome by her beauty, and the Prophet kept turning the man’s head away. The man would look again, and he’d turn the man’s head away again, and so on…
