Handbags and storage

Sisters, girlies, ladies!

where do you store your handbags?! i just dont know where to put them.

they're not ALL mine. i only have like 1 big bag for lessons, a smaller bag for well..when the big one isnt needed and a side sporty type of bag for when you just need your bus pass, moneyz and phone. (and sometimes a book can fit as well (Y) ) so im okay, these bags are just around doing their own thing.

but there's FOUR females in our house! (ok, the last one is 5 but shes the one with the MOST stuff)

so there's 3 females in this household with a multitude of bags. theres school bag, madrassah bag, going out bag, etc...

so there's about 9/10 bags in different colours and shapes that need to be stored somewhere.

but where? where in a house do you keep handbag?! on a special handbag hanger? on a special shelf? my mum's taken to hanging them to the back of chairs but thats just a disaster when it topples over...

so..any suggestions?

If I were a sister, girlie, lady, in a cupboard.

When you said handbags, i thought you meant actual actual womanly handbags. I don't think i'm the sort of person who carries a bag around with me lol. I need to embrace this womenliness someday.

But in our house, all madrassah bags go into the pantry. Its the place under the staircase. Its not a place to store food like in the old days, but we just have lots of shelves and pegs, so there's a section for coats, a section for umbrella's, a section for jackets/hoodies, and obviously a section for madrassah bags.

Everyone's school bags go in their own rooms, wherever their allocated work space is.

But with my mum, she keeps her everyday school/work bag in the so called pantry along with her going-out handbag. Dad keeps his briefcase in his office (a room which looks a lot like a minature library). And all the rest of Mum's handbags go upstairs in her bedroom,  in the wardrobe next to her clothes wardrobe. There's shelves in there from top to bottom and so, one shelf is for handbags.

Mine were in my wardrobe, now they're in a basket, but that's not the best place to put them - especially if they're easily creased and the creases won't come out... Wacko

@Hummus - I think I need to be more "womanly" too, I hate carrying handbags

I have loads of useless bags that I don't even need. Most are handbags, which only come in use for going out, like weddings. The rest of them only came in use when I was moving out lol. I hardly use them, cause they're so big- and they only seem to come in use for emergencies.

I'm not fussed with what bag I use at all, so I keep them in my wardrobe. I've even flattened them out to save space. The handbags are a nightmare though, cause you just can't seem to keep them upright, so I've just shoved them at the back of my wardrobe. Biggrin

If you have the long side bags though, you can always hang them up, or put all your bags in  a box under your bed or something.

Lol @ womanly. I can never be 'womanly' even if I tried.

thing is all these 10 bags are used on a daily basis pretty much. they need to be on hand all the time. so keeping htem upstairs or in wardrobes isnt efficient...

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Have a place for them in each of your rooms? My school bag gets dumped in a particular spot on my floor, though it's on my desk right now

Behind your door? I keep the bags I'm using at the time (school bag/casual messenger bag/formal going out-y bag) on same peg as my Abaya...the rest of my gazzillion bags are on the top shelf of my wardrobe which I take down to alternate when I need to.

Other peeps just leave them in the cupboard near the coat hanger and shoe rack that is designated for their Work/College/Madrasah bags...

About 3/4 maybe even 5 years ago, one of my cousin sisters gave me all her handbags, they weren't the woman type of handbags, they were just little sort of ones. I've never really used them ever. In my wardrobe, i have two shelves at the top, then the rail for all my clothes, and then two draws underneath. I keep all of her handbags that she gave me on the 2nd shelf. I don't even know WHY i have them there, i'm not even going to use them, well i don't think i will be anyway. It's annoying, they just sit there in the hope that they can collect some dust.

i wish they cld just have anti gravity buttons and just float around ready to be grabbed.

ive always hated handbags with a vengence, i think its due to a childhood traumatic event lol i remember my mum had bought these naff hair flower slides which were all the fashion in the 80s and a white leather rectangular clutch bag with a gold chain for a  handle. i dont know what was worse the flower slide or the bAG LOL. (btw the flower slides are still available in all good desi shops lol)i looked at it when presented to me with confusion, apparently i needed it. every girl should have a handbag when she goes out especially to wedding parties. you see where im going... i hated wedding parties after that too. i never used the bag again and i only attended weddings if it was family. i wasnt gona be eye candy for potetial matches 20 yrs before i was capable of marrying  no way!

throughout uni and even now i like casual bags usually satchels. i hate clutches and dainty bags that look like they are purses that can hold coppers but have no room for even a mobile? such a bag should be on the scrapheap..sorry if any ladies here have them Smile

i think ikea will have a good cheap storage solution for your handbags. or you could take my advice sell them all. you only need 2. one for uni or work and one for outside of that.you dont need wedding bags, get them as you need them and when you do buy it always bear in mind will it date easily? can it be easily used for many different weddings? i think theyre a waste of money and women unfortunately are always the ones who are duped into parting with silly amounts of money not just on bags but other frivolous stuff ive done it. i had two once and i forgot to empty my purse out, so i was out shopping but couldnt buy aything! doesnt that happen to you ever with all those bags? its hassle emptying the contents out when youre rushing out the door.

me ill keep a bag until its looking like its had enough of  A BASHING, then i purchase a new one. if i had millions i still wouldnt get into bags. Diamonds or swiss made watches now that is something id spend on..but im not loaded Wink
