Television out of bounds for Muslim women

LUCKNOW, Times News Network:

With ulema calling the shots, life for Muslim women in a minority-dominated town in Bijnor, will never be the same again.

Simple and harmless pleasures like visiting friends, a trip to the market or tuning in to their favourite soap could be denied to them.

Local clerics have decided to impose a strict ban on "potential corrupting influence on female minds that threaten to violate Islamic tenets".

Iranians Elect Hardliner as President
Ahmadinejad elected president of Iran

Iran's interior minister has declared Mahmood Ahmadinejad winner of Friday's presidential runoff election.

The ultra-conservative Tehran mayor was earlier reported by officials to be sweeping towards a stunning presidential election victory over veteran cleric Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani with the backing of Iran's religious poor.

Political analysts say Ahmadinejad's win can spell an end to the fragile social reforms made under outgoing President Mohammad Khatami and harden Iran's foreign policy towards the West, particularly over its

Babar Ahmed Campaign

Salaam

The Babar Ahmed Campaign is on The Revival homepage.

But what is it about? I did not know; all I knew was Ed was screaming at me to put it on homepage. I did.

Who is Babar ahmed? Why is there a campaign about him? what is the campaign about? I was not sure.

I asked Ed.

He Said there was this guy called Babar Ahmed, who was arrested and given no reason for the arrest. Now he is to be deported to the US for interrogation, but he (and the public) still has not been given a reason as to why. The home office will decide soon as to wether to extradite him.

Italy seeks 'CIA kidnap agents'
Italy seeks 'CIA kidnap agents'

Italian authorities have issued arrest warrants for 13 people they claim are agents "linked to the CIA".

The suspects are accused of abducting an Islamic cleric in Milan in 2003 and flying him to Egypt for interrogation.

Osama Mustafa Hassan, also known as Abu Omar, was already being investigated in Italy as part of a terrorism inquiry.

Italian prosecutors believe the operation was part of a controversial US anti-terror policy known as "extraordinary rendition".

The policy involves seizing suspects and taking them to third countries

Muslims Dating

Sup,

"A man and women are not alone, except that Shaytaan is the third in their company"

The above is mentioned in the Quran. So WHY i ask you do muslims date?

Why do muslim brother and sisters take part in dating? When its clearly said to be haraam?

Some where along the line the generations view had suddenly changed and what was once forbidden in Islam is slowly becoming more acceptable?? Why?

What was there some sort of devine intervention or something that i missed?

You'll get answers like:

Person who acts wrongly has no belief.

True faith must be that which stops you acting against it.

For example, if you want to live, then would you drink poison, knowing for sure it is indeed poison?

If you do not wish to upset God, then would you do anything that you KNOW would upset Him?

Please keep it real.

Always an interesting subject.

Marrying a Relative

I remember this thread a while ago...

So what do you guys think?

About the idea of marrying a relative?

Do you think it would make it easier if you had known them since you were kids? Or would that make it harder to accept them as your partner?

Strictly speaking in Islam your NOT permitted to marry anyone in the immediate family so we're most likely talking cousins etc.
