Went into the the waterstones in Uni today. Your campus may have a branch too. They had purple or pink stickers on some books saying 'student discount'.
At the start of every term, I think, all branches give students 10% off.
But if you really want to save money, you're best off using amazon.co.uk. And if you want to save even more money, you should buy books through amazon.co.uk's marketplace.
Not sure if you'll come into contact with any Jews if you follow my advice above.

When it comes to aqeeda, sects disagree.
So it can be dangerous to read the book from a diferent sect to learn aqeedah.
However as a comparative study, when you know your stuff, it can be good.

Depends on the book.
Some of the books that the salafi ulama/writers publish are very confusing and wrong.
Others are gems. All depends on what the book contains.
Take for example Kitab at-Tawheed by Shaykh Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab alayhim rahmah - very good book.
But on other hand a book called "The Prophet's Prayer Described" by a certain deceased person is greatly lacking.

Strengthening the faith seems like a title of an aqeedah book...
Since your aqeedah differs with the Salafies... it is dangerous.

dont know. Best for me to be silent.
But I would agree with admin. If you dont know about the book and author then best not to read it. Particularly if you are not entirely confident in your own aqeedah - eg the salafis will say taweez is shirk whereas our aqeedah is that its not.
They may be strong on their beliefs but alhamdulillah so is the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'ah.

theres a hadith, our prophet mohammed sallalahu alahi wasallam has said: people will always be questioning and thinking of creation, till eventually this thought will arise that ALLAH has created all creation but who has created ALLAH.
when such a thought arises then one should immedietly say, 'i bring faith in ALLAH and his messenger'
this is shaitaan interfering in our thoughts...its a way for him to mislead us.
astagfirullah such soch has come across me aswell, and is very scary so i know what its like.

I guess there is nothing wrong with asking the question... it's just an expression of your humanity.
There is so much we don't know about the nature of God - especially us Christians who wrestle with the idea of his unity of the three persons.
I suspect that a question about where God came from is just a manifestation of the fact that we, as creations, do not have the capacity to understand the world as God, the creator, does.
It's like asking a Doctor about medicine and then asking a patient - the doctor's perspective on medicine would seem completely alien to the patient.
God wasn't created - simple as, he's always been. We just don't seem to accept that there wasn't a nice neat little starting point.
The Greeks used to play with this all the time, the Gods came from the Titans who came from Uranus and Gaia, who came from so and so and more so and sos until eventually the father of everything turned out to be "Chaos" a big dumb void with nothing in it.
Unfortunately the greeks didn't get to ask "where did that come from" because by that time they had spent the last 3000 years trying to figure this out and by then they had all converted to Christianity where there were no gods, titans, urani, or chaii.
It's something we won't understand - because we cannot - but it's something we can simply accept.
God is was and will always be.

Pointless to dwell on it because it is not possible for our feable minds to understand what God is.

The devil is little more than a rebel - not an alternative.
He isn't the "God of Evil" - he isn't even the overlord of evil, nor is he evil in carnate.
Evil is nothing - it's a (pointless) state of rebellion against God - it's not a path one can pursue.
To ascribe to the devil "special powers" or attribute to him our own little weaknesses is as far as i'm concerned an attempt to exculpate our own weakness and in the process create an anti-God.
The origin of blasphemy IMO is our freewill and human weakness. The devil is nothing - the devil offers nothing. His existence is simply a reminder that God has given us the ability to choose him, an ability he has not given to all his creations.
Save your fear for God, he's the only one with power over you.

Actually bruv, in our religion there are ahadeeth which state explicitly that this question of who created God/what was before God is a prompting and a whispering from the devil.
According to Prophetic advice, when such a thought enters the mind the believer must seek refuge in ALLAH Most High from the Accursed Devil.

At 8.00pm came down for dinner...as soon as I finished dinner my best mate rang telling me to come over and have cake since its her B'day today...(who can refuse cake?)....So I went over to hers...had cake, ate ANOTHER dinner...(Boy do I eat a lot sometimes)...we chatted for a bit and I just came home now...
And now I'm sitting here...
