Surah Yaseen has an extremely special rank amongst the chapters of the Qur’an. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) has said that “Indeed everything has a heart, and the heart of the Qur’an is Yaseen” [Al Bazzar]. It has also been narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said “recite Yaseen for your dead” [Imam Ahmad, Al Nasai]. Why has it been called the heart of the Qur’an and what is Allah trying to tell us by this? What does it mean to recite it for the dead? This course will go through an explanation of the verses and provide an insight into why it is so important for us in our daily lives.

Allah has revealed the Qur’an in order to help us, and this Surah is described by scholars as one which is recited to strengthen the heart. It covers the fundamental aspects of faith which we all need to ingrain into our hearts in order to pass the test of this life - The Oneness of Allah, the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him), and certainty of the Resurrection.
