I came across the revival magazine at College and found it intereasting and the website address caught my eye and I decided to check it out and I read some posts on the fourms which I thought were interesting and funny and then finally decided to join the club and hey Presto I am here! There I said it you happy now! Smile

The newly added (since about a week ago) "about me" section in the profile makes this topic kind of redundant now.

only if people A) write anything in the section and Dirol read each others' sections.

Don't just do something! Stand there.

Salam, I'm Sumaiya, But I guess you worked that out...

Anyways can I just check to be sure if it's halal to talk to guys on the forum seeing as there is no purpose in this.?

Behold...Me!

Thanks for the welcome, but are you sure? because i remember Baba Ali saying that your allowed online future partner chatting because ur purpose was to be potentially get married and look at the background of the person.

Behold...Me!

1. The communication on here is not private, so there is no "and the third person is the devil".
2. This place is not allowed to be used as a dating/checking out service.
3. Most discussions happen on some topic or another.

Are you absoloutely, completely , dead sure?

And would you be confident to receive the sins if not?...

If we said 'yes', is it likely you'll ask any further questions?

If you still have doubts, please ask a scholar.

The internet is a tool. It can be used for good or bad. That does not make it inherently evil.

Lol, thats not what i meant.

As brother 'You' has pointed out this is not a private conversation... its public. Whether one uses the internet for good or evil is down to them.

But if you feel uncomfortable then you may restrict youreself to the sisters only section if on the other hand you think you can control yourself long enough to converse with everyone then alhamdulliah stay.

Thank you O great scholars!

....just kidding

Behold...Me!

I've just found something hat says you're not allowed:

“It is permissible for women to converse with non-Mahram men at the time of need (and vice versa). However, what is not permissible is that they stretch, soften and raise their voice in a melodious way.” (Radd al-Muhtar, V.1, P. 406)

Your decision O great scholars?

and 'Informal interaction with the opposite sex has also been made unlawful'

I think your reading way too much into this. Yes intermixing is not allowed between members of the opposite sex however, i think forums are an exception to that rule coz for one your not chatting to one individual, secondly the topics that are discussed on here are not personal. The aim of this forum is to discuss issues that affect the Muslim ummah and how we as Muslims can make a change. Whats so un- Islamic about that. if we were indulging in idol gossip then that would totally be a big no no.

ps different scholars will have different views. This area is ambiguous as they didn’t have internet during the time of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) . If you still feel a bit iffy talking to the guys then as admin said just stick with the sister section but there aint much going on there. The choice is yours.

I'm sorry I can't answer you because you're a girl.

Lol, always with you with what cannot be done.

Intermixing between the sexes is forebidden.

HOWEVER:

1. This is over the internet, where no one really knows what you or I look like. And thus can not become "enticed" by the other... unless you think my typing is sexy.
2. This is NOT a private conversation where the devil is likely to be the third person.
3. This is not even something that can be defined as a conversation within the meaning of the above quote; since you can not hear our voices... even if we do sit here singing to the screen.
4. The rules of the forum strictly prohibit ANY such behaviour.

If however you feel you're so beautiful that its leaking onto these forums and is likely to cause brothers to stray, then let me be the first to say... dont flatter yourself lol.
If you do feel uncomfortable on the main board, you can restrict yourself to the sisters only section as guys can not view it.
