The Muslim world's top scholars have agreed that fatwas, or religious edicts, should only be issued by clerics with religious authority.

The move is meant to weaken statements by figures involved in fighting in Iraq who ordain violence.

The three-day meeting in Amman, which ended on Wednesday, has for the first time gathered representatives of eight Sunni and Shia Muslim schools of thought.

They all also agreed that followers cannot label other Muslims as "apostates", something groups in Iraq have done to justify attacks against Iraqi police and civilians.

A conference statement said the clerics agreed that an adherent of each of the eight schools of thought "is a Muslim".

"Declaring that person an apostate is impossible, verily his or her blood, honour and property are sacrosanct," according to the statement read by Jordanian Religious Affairs Minister Abdul-Salam al-Abadi.

So does that mean that I would not be able to hold the view that Salafies are indeed the worst scum of the Earth, and that these morons actually follow the Devil ?

Also, would I be allowed to believe that the idiot Osama Bin Laden deserves to be hanged, along with all senior Taliban leaders.

Would these opinions be censored, or, will I still continue to have that precious freedom of speech that God, and Her Majesty the Queen, granted me in this beautiful country of Merry England.

I'm sure you can still hold whatever view you want....but just leave the Fatwa's to the experts.

Bro, you can go around believing whatever you want as long as you dont start issueing fatwas.

So i think its pretty much safe to say you'll be fine.

If ten people ask me about my beliefs about Salafies, would I be able to share my views with them ?

So what is the difference ?

Leave what to the experts ?

You should express your views as your own.

You should not say that your views are justified and upheld by Islamic law and teachings.

You should not interpret Islamic sources for yourself and then present your interpretation as Islamically valid.

Leave the formulation of fatwas to the experts.
