WHO ARE THE MOST CORRUPT COUNTRIES TODAY?

SALAAM
WHO ARE THE MOST CORRUPT COUNTRIES TODAY?

The 2005 Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index

According to the annual survey by the Berlin-based organization Transparency International, the world's least corrupt country is seen as being Iceland and the countries perceived as most corrupt are Bangladesh and Chad.
The index defines corruption as the abuse of public office for private gain, and measures the degree to which corruption is perceived to exist among a country's public officials and politicians. It is a composite index, drawing on 16 surveys from 10 independent institutions, which gathered the opinions of businesspeople and country analysts. Because of the absence of reliable data, only 159 of the world's countries are included in the survey.

The scores range from 10 (squeaky clean) to zero (highly corrupt). A score of 5.0 is the number Transparency International considers the borderline figure distinguishing countries that do and do not have a serious corruption problem. Countries that have improved their rating since the 2004 index were Estonia, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Qatar, Taiwan, and Turkey. Countries that have a worse rating since 2004 include Costa Rica, Gabon, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, and Uruguay.

Bangladesh's done well.

Last year it at the very bottom of the list.

This system does not take into account legalised corruption.

then places such as UK and USA would eb alot higher up, with their finding for votes, party political donations...

This report for me shows those countries who have failed to legalise corruption.

There are probably some which are correct, but the basis of ranking to me is unfair.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

not bad for oman

In ur face Dave

lol yea... but if this was a food contest - USA hands down.

Something about bland cured meats just doesn't do it for me.

The only stuff that's fit to eat in Britain is imported - case in point curried ANYTHING.

you sure do and i wonder how long is it gona be that you will have to throw some out, on a even serious note obesity in US is becoming a big problem

Yea seriously it is a big problem... it seems like Americans can't stay away from fast food.

I can't stand the stuff... it's so greasy and disgusting.

There used to be the Boston Commons that actually served real food - but they quickly went out of business.

weird..

I feel sorry for those people whose nations did not even make the list.

Also, Pakistan is less corrupt than Chile. Ask any Chillian. She would rather chill in Pakistan.

Omrow

Not true! Chile is doing very well these days, they are starting to open up about the Pinochet years and are doing truth commissions - they are also liberalizing their Constitution and are making a tremendous economic recovery.

'Ask any chillian and she would rather chill in pakistan'

So its a 100% female population? tickets!

(or you saying all 'chillers' are female?)

not too bad

The Lover is ever drunk with love;
He is free, he is mad,
He dances with ecstasy and delight.

Caught by our own thoughts,
We worry about every little thing,
But once we get drunk on that love,
Whatever will be, will be.
