Who Is Our Role Model?

My brothers, the answer to this is very simple. We have forgotten the ways of our real leader, our unique role model, the one who said: "I am the greatest of mankind and I say this without boasting." The Holy Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam. It is our responsibility to bring up our youths as devotees of the Holy Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam. The sorrowful point is that we need rectification ourselves. For example take an apple, if the core is rotten then the effect will also be apparent on the skin. In the same way, our heart is our core and we are the core of our youngsters, and the Muslims as a whole are the core of the reputation and advancement of Islam. But the problem is that our hearts have been covered with the darkness of unawareness. Once this darkness has been removed and replaced with the light of guidance, and the light of the love of Allah and his Holy Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam. It will become easy to do such good actions through which we will not only attain salvation in the hereafter but we will taste the ecstasy of paradise in this world as well. Therefore, without the love of the Holy Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam we are like a hand trying to clap. Advancement and elevation cannot be gained without the love of the Holy Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam.

The achievement of the Sahabah radiyallahu anhum in their time was in fact their love for Allah and his Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam. Devotion and attachment, as a matter of fact, was a great dynamic force in the career of the Sahabah radiyallahu anhum. It was the force that made them forego their luxuries, forget their lives, give up all the desires for wealth, ignore afflictions and have no fear of death. There was no room for any other in the heart, which was filled with attachment, devotion and affection.

May Allah Ta’ala through his grace grant us His own love and that of the Prophet sallallahu alaihe wasallam so that we may be blessed with the devotion in worship and have a sense of comfort in all difficulties faced in his service.

mashaALLAH gud post.

Ya ALLAH Madad.
Haq Chaar Yaar

we all know the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) is and always will and should be our role model....no argument there

but there are and should be other LIVE role models for us to follow aswell, like our scholars, our parents etc...

wouldnt you agree?

yea i agree...live role models like our scholars, alhamdulillah very good

parents: hmmmm depends ..not ALL parents can be good role-models
sometimes its the children that are role-models for their parents vice-versa..

I certainly agree, as ive had plenty of experience but i wuldnt call myself a good role model of Islam  ...only Allah (SWT) and His Beloved (SAW) is aware of dat.

No there doesnt need to be live models today to follow, there isn't a requirement in Islam, Allaah (Swt) Commands Us In the quran to take the Messenger Muhammad (Saw) as Our Uswah Hasna Ya3ni our best example, and to follow that The Muhammad (Saw) informed us to follow the first 3 generations of the muslims, which the best generations to live oon the face of this earth, who are sahaabah, Tabieen and Taba Tabi'een.
after we are ordered to not blind follow scholars, we take knowledge from them, love them for what they teach us and for helping us in our Deen,

I Believe the only true reviver of the deen are the mujahideen, who are the true awliya of Allaah, asthey submit to what Allaah(Swt) commands.they sold themselves to Allaah in return for the everlasting Bliss Jannah,Subhan'Allaah these are the peoeple of true, the true people of sunnah who sacrificed everything, even themselves for their Lord Allaah(Swt)

Subhan'Allaah

None of that really answers the question. Nor does it refute the argument.

Well Teh Arugument Provided Didnt Exactly Have any Evidence To The Opinion You have stated, so im not sure what im refuting ??

The post you quoted said there should be other role models. You said there shouldn't.

Why shouldn't there be others? You could have good reasons, but just a blanket statement is not very convincing.

(and just as a reference - the Islamic principle is "Everything is allowed, unless it is forbidden." Think of it being something like "Innocent until proven guilty".)

Well I Could state ur post was blanket of statements too, you haven't provided any evidence for your statements,

my post was directed at people who Believe we should FOLLOW scholars, which in islam we know every matter has been discussed and issued to us on plate, no where does it say we should follow scholars, even the four Imams in the book The Prophets prayer described, in the introduction they clearly say no one should follow them and certainly not take their opinions unless they know where they came from, basically know the evidence that was used to derive that opinion.
having Role Models and following scholars is two different matters, When Allaah has clearly stated who your role model is, why look elsewhere, is not the words of Allaah sufficient to satisfy oneself.

I think I have actually avoided making statements in this topic. The quote from your first post is from someone else, not me.

Me? My position is closer to a question: "why do people even need a role model?" Don't know the answer, not too bothered about the issue.

a role model is literally someone worthy of imitation; so being inspired by someone is slightly different. IMO.

Don't just do something! Stand there.

IMO to say that the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) is our role model, is noble but very ambitious and not realistically attainable.

Of course, we can and should aspire...however, its far easier to emulate those who you personally know who have incorporated into their lifestyle some attributes of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) - my mum gives a lot to charity, does a lot for the community and fasts twice a week, never misses tahajud and is incredibly tolerant and patient..even though she's my role model, I find it really hard to do what she does...I cant even begin to imagine how difficult it'd be to try to emulate the attributes of the most perfect of all creation.

I have never had a role model and never will. I am my own person. i dont say that boastfully, its never occurred me to look for a role model. i cant really understand the concept and find it really difficult to understand why any one would need one. lots of my friends go on about it but i find it difficult to sustain any serious discussion.

I feel if you spend time really looking into yourself you will find you are your own role model because it is that material that makes us what we are and not anything borrowed or copied.

Allah never said that ONLY follow or respect the Prophet Muhamad (pbuh) and tell everyone else to stuff it! Why can't you have many role models who you are good?

Chin up, mate! Life's too short.

Yeah but someone must have inspired you to be what you are now. You don't have to always turn to your role model for every piece of advice. You know, a role model can be someone who you respect and learn alot from.
I'd be happy to say that I learn from all you people, and in a way, you are my role models. It's possible for two people to be each other's role model.
You know, why not?

My role model is Imam Ali.

Imam Ali has been designated the "Master of the Universe" by Allah.

Ya Ali Madaad!!

Ayatollah rightly named America as "Great Satan".

How did I know you were going to say that? No offence to Shias, but please advertise Imam Ali just a little less. I don't think he'll be happy that you're doing this.

I like Mr Warbuton. He's my roll model.

im with you on that one!

i think most people tend to take bits of people they admire/look up to and fix them together to form a role model..

i admire my dad for his hard work bringing up the family on a solo wage in a country he knew very little about...(shows nothings impossible)

i admire my mum for her understanding...i know no matter how bad ive messed up..or what i've done...ive got an understanding ear waiting to listen (shows understanding solves almost anything)

i admire my sisters and brothers for their successfulness..they've all thrived to do well and succeed (shows hard work can help anyone reach their goals)

and most importantly i look up to Allah (swt) and Mohhammed (PBUH) for guidance and direction (shows whenever there's darkness turn to Islam for light)
