My little sister did that... ran around like a headless chicken. I was standing in my room next to the window watching the storm (coz the forums were down and i'd finished my book 3 times over). See i think its just girls who're afraid of a storm. Ive never met a guy who'd say he was scared of a little storm... on the other hand i did meet this one guy who said a storm with thunder and lightening is gods rock and roll... ofcourse i wasn't sure he was all there.

But i thought the whole thing was cool, i dunno maybe coz its guys find a wild destructive force like that as "cool".

oy watch it! thers no need to slip in the machismo in this thread Blum 3 Wink ...coz i found the storm pretty 'cool' too! i happened to b sitting in an exam hall at the time, and it provided a great distraction. Biggrin after the thunder wen the rain just poured down... subhanallah it was really beautiful, especially after the days of caribbean-stylie heat.

I was simply saying girls seemed to be scared of it for some reason and only the guys were thinking how cool it was.

Another massive bump.

They are satellite images. Anyone got any better links?

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

Seems New Orleans may be totally destroyed tomorrow.

Dave; how is it being reported there?

Its supposed to be only the fourth time in recorded history such a storm has hit mainland.

And New orleans is supposedly below sea level, so it could be flooded in over 25 foot of water.

My cousins are watching it on the weather channel.,they have popcorn - which I detest - and keep calling me over to show me how "cool it is"

So far the thing has moved an inch across the screen.

Frightning stuff though, NE is very flat and slopes up the Mississippi - its really bad when the river floods, this might just erase the city. All airports are close through Miss, and Alabama (which means there is no way I can get home now that NC and SC airports are the only gateways to the South) there are a lot of people stuck in NE Airport, and the city is in a state of mass exodus.

And the President is making a presidential address... prayers et cetera.

A friend of mine works at NASA and told me the eye of the hurricane will hit landfall right over the western portion of the city - that's going to do some pretty strange damage.

As long no one dies...

... and there are some good snaps

It should all be ok.

lol... I guess you haven't picked this up from me.

Southerners under no circumstances abandon their homes.

Most of the mass exodus right now are intelligent southerners (quite few) and travelers (quite a lot).

Most of the elderly residents of NE, as well as those with families are staying. A lot of them do not have flood insurance either so they want to stick around just incase there is something they can do. There are all these suicidal testimonials on the weather channel right now about how they are sticking it out.

This is definitely going to result in some deaths.

As well as the inevitable sermon from Pat Robertson tomorrow about how NE deserved this because of Mardis Gras.

Definitely going to be some interesting pictures though, i'll try to call my friend and see if she can take some.

Fortunately she lives in a fortress, unfortunately said fortress is right on the gulf. So she is both quite safe and quite scared (but she'll have a spectacular view)
