1, 2, skip a few, 99, a hundred

So I was a no show yesterday, I apologise. It kinda ruined my plan of being consistent, I had a nice pattern going: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday .. (orrrr: Al-ithnaayn, Ath-thulaathaa, Al-arbiaa’, Al-khamees, Al-juma’, As sabt, Al-ahad, Al-ithnaayn, Ath-thulaathaa.. – in Arabic [may as well get a little practise in]).

Now unfortunately, wait what day is it today? oh yes Tuesday, unfortunately it’s changed and become ‘ Shok =S =|, Tuesday, Wednesday etc etc ’ – basically, not consistent – Monday’s missing, just in case that just went over your head (my French teacher I think used to say this (well illustrate with her hands and mouth – she would blow so it sounded like the wind) when someone just didn’t get something – I’ve sort of found it catchy, which is why I now say ‘that just went over your head’. Maybe she didn’t make it up, actually I’m sure she didn’t but since she was the one I heard it from. I’m going to say I quote her.

Ok so anyway rewind to the beginning of yesterday..

Firstly the reason why: I actually did have something to write, so it wasn’t a case of nothing to say, but I was so tired that I fell asleep on the floor straight after praying Isha – straight after, exactly where I was praying - it went ‘Salaam, Salaam, lie down, lights out’. My legs (and feet) were aching and my eyes just didn’t want to stay open.

(Ahem I said the beginning of yesterday)

Oh yes, sorry.

I was woken at around 6am by my yummy chummy goo-goo-ga-ga two-year old nephew (he and his little nearly-one-year-old brother [ahh so lovely lovely lovely!] actually deserve a whole separate mention so I wont go into detail here) who was actually trapped in the room I ZzZing in (as my mum didn’t want him to go into the other room to wake up the baby).

After much alarm snoozing I got out of bed around 7.30am, got ready for work and left. While I was walking (having a conversation with myself in my head] I saw my manager (lets call her Ms Boss, just so you remember that she is a female and she is my boss) sitting in Starbucks (eww) waving me over so I went in and sat with her while she drank her coffee - - Fast Forward a little - - we stood outside the shop and Ms Boss attempted to open the store.
And..
the shutters didn’t go up.
We tried again, nothing. HUH?!

Then after a while we gave up and she decided that we should ring the professionals, who said that they would be there in – wait for it: 2 to 4 HOURS! ARE THEY CRAZY?!

So back to Starbucks it was (please note that if I wasn’t fasting and wanted a drink I would have been sipping out of a Costa Coffee cup grinno)

I seriously wanted to sleep there and then but felt a little self conscious since: A) I didn’t have my slipper socks packed that morning – yes I do carry them in my bag and Dirol I didn’t have anything to act as a blankyy that would cover both my face and the rest of me – the air con was making me cold and well the face covering would have just been for the sake of dignity – gosh why didn’t I pack a niqaab!

Three hours and a bit later (or was it the full four hours) we get a call saying that the guy is there so we return to work where the guy can’t actually open it and has to get a CARJACK to push it up! We weren’t very impressed let me tell you.

We finally opened the store at 1pm and - - Fast Forward again - - at around 5ish we’re getting ready to close the store for the day and the damn shutter won’t come down!
IT WON’T COME DOWN! “COME DOWN” we all felt like screaming “COME DOWN” – it didn’t care, that stupid, selfish shutter.

So finally it does decide to return to earth (I come in peace) but trips the fuse, breaks the circuit and stops half way! (Reminder: this is a jewellery store and we were blimin worried (worried is so not the right word) that some random person will decide to jack (lack of a better word.. rob?) us.

This basically goes on and on until we (at around 6) decide that we won't be able to leave so Ms Boss calls some guys to repair it, they take their sweet time to come and at quarter to 8, let me repeat that QUARTER TO 8, I really can't take anymore (I was trying to man up and push my headache, leg ache, foot ache and eye ache not to mention the grumbling coming from the empty pits of my stomach, aside) but I failed and plus Iftaar was going to be in 20 or so minutes and I just really had to get out of there.

I apologise (I meant it) to Ms Boss and leave her with the repairman and the newbie (new guy started recently) and get picked up by car (thank God).

I head home to get changed, then go to my aunts for a quick Iftaar and the rest is, as they say, history.

So yeh I don’t know if that sounded as hectic as it was but .. wait I forgot to rant!

WHY COULDN’T THEY FIX THE SHUTTER THE FIRST TIME WE HAD A PROBLEM? Around a year ago! It certainly isn’t as though they don’t make enough money! Don’t worry about us, peasant folk waiting around at work when we should be at home – doing something far more important (like sleeping or playing with the kiddies or be on The Revival [I actually kept thinking ‘if only they had the internet here so I could go on to The Revival’ –I’m being obsessive aren’t I?])
Don’t worry as long as you’re ‘sorry’ that we have to stay a.k.a ‘you’re going to half to deal with it’ Arghhh!

Alright that’s enough, by the way, did you notice this is approximately double what I usually write, and I guess it’s a kind of making up for yesterday in form of a long diary-like entry. Interesting huh? (no not really)

Sooo my leg is hurting again, I actually need to see a doctor (again) about it (one of these days) so I'm going to have a little walk around my room to stretch it out. Thus I bid you farewell.

Farewell I say, farewell.

Farewell man.

FAREWELLLLL

Have you figured out how/when your leg aches more? Could it be when you somehow put extra strain on the joints? (by like leaning them to the side so that the strain on the knees is not in the same direction as the joint movement.)

eurgh... I hate even thinking about the above. it makes me queasy.

Good point, i think i'll keep that in mind so i can observe tomo (well today). The annoying thing is it's just my right leg, i mean i'm glad it's not in my left leg =S but it seems to emphasise the pain more.
Question: did you really have a pain in your leg (or did you say knee?)?

p.s. (lol i like using that) Well done for reading all of that (if you did), i didn't expect anyone to actually read it considering it's length!

Jihad of the Nafs (The Struggle of the Soul)

for me it was the knee. Not real pain mostly but they felt.. alien.

Alien huh? Interesting word choice. (O and i edited my above comment)

Jihad of the Nafs (The Struggle of the Soul)

i read it! God mashallah, the way you write flows so well it didnt even feel like a lot, i actually enjoyed it Biggrin

and i feel your pain. i hate it when its just like, ONE day where everything happens and yeah, im not surprised you went "light out" straight after praying.

i have a lot to say, but im kinda tired so i'll pause and wait for you to comment and then i'll comment because i enjoy it and i want to do something i enjoy right now.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Lol Lilly, you make me lafff (ahem 'laugh')! There was nothing to do either (well i could have cleaned the silver or gold or something but i just didn't want to), usually you can spend the time eating but that was a no-no too sigh

You: I went to the doccies today who said that i have Inflammatory Arthritis in my hip which has to confirmed by my blood test next week (just felt like i should update)

Jihad of the Nafs (The Struggle of the Soul)

I think I read the other day that fasting has been used as a cure for some forms of arthiritis... no idea how genuine that was or if it was just a sales pitch.

If it was a sales pitch, its strange as you can't sell someone something to not eat...

Ooh cupping, it hurts doesn't it?

You: really? fasting? but it's to do with the bone joints =S I wouldn't be that surprised though, fasting is meant to have a lot of benefits.. don't eat dates though =S

Jihad of the Nafs (The Struggle of the Soul)

NO WAY! if it hurts then you're got yourself an unexperienced cupper!

cupping isnt suppose to leave scars. or hurt. ever. I created a blogpost about it...once upon a time not so long ago.

Jihad of the Nafs (The Struggle of the Soul)

Reallyyy! Now we're talking! What about the 'No pain, no gain' concept? hmm

Jihad of the Nafs (The Struggle of the Soul)

now now, is this an islamic concept? (:P) then!!!

anyway, my mum did it on the day of the course and it didnt hurt and i believe didnt leave scar (i think) whereas when she got it done in Syria..well..she's still got the scars...

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

I think I'll consider it umm later on .. in life

Jihad of the Nafs (The Struggle of the Soul)

no seriously. cupping doesnt hurt! only if someone who doesnt know how to cup but think he/she does. then that might be painful

plus, cupping's got lots of benefit, and its a sunnah. and if all else fails...
