Dammit! :/ i've sort of got myself into an "argument" with a bunch of people on fb who think celebrating the Prophet's Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) bday is wrong - whatever way u do it.

they're using arguments like how bday's are bidaah and something the Christians and Jews do.

Please help me get out if it w/o looking like a fool Fool i shall try and keep my mouth shut next time Fool

EDIT : its ok i got my self out of it by saying "we're not gna convince each other so i'm gna leave it at that"

:/

QUote Surah Maryam (19) verse 15.

[qs:19:15]

That should shut most people up (but to be sure, highlight the "day he was born" bit... it is about Prophet Yahya (as) AFAIK). Either way, such arguments are pointless and not many will change their position on matters through arguments.

Your goal should not be to convince them that it is allowed, but to convince them not to condemn those that think it is allowed.

Reading that link above, I found some juicy and succulent information:

...Ibn Tay'miah said in his book "Necessity of the Right Path", p. 266, 5th line from the bottom of that page, published by Dar Al-Hadith, the following: "As far as what people do during the Meelad, either as a rival celebration to that which the Christian do during the time of Christ's birthday or as an expression of their love and admiration and a sign of praise for the Noble Prophet, Allah will surely reward them for such Ij'tihad". He then said: "Although Meelad was not practised by (Salaf), they should have done so since there was no objection against it from the Shari'ah point of view". ...

Nice.
