The leap from 3 to 112.

Water. Its so pure and clean and it occupies about 60% of every one of us. I've always been told that i'm supposed to be drinking about 8 glasses of water a day.

As i was looking around, i happened to read a few sentences which said that men should be having about 13 cups of beverages a day, and women should be having a total of 9 cups of beverages a day.

Apparently, this 'idea of having 8 cups a day' isn't supported by hard evidence but it remains 'popular' because its easy to remember.

Now for someone like me, who drinks about 3 cups a fortnight, how will i ever get to 9 x 14 = 126 cups. Okay, i think i should make it much easier for myself... how will i ever get to 8 x 14 = 112 cups of water in two weeks?!

Now going from 3 to 112, is just a BIG leap - a bigger leap than i expected it to be. My body must be so deprived of the nutrients and benefits that water contains. But its been ever so good at functioning and doing the things is supposed to be doing.

Do any of you guys actually stick to that advice? And if you do, how DO you do it and how do you not 'forget' to drink 8 cups of water a day?

maybe its suppose to be 8 "cups" in total. counting all the extra water we get through food?

im trying to get a litre a day. water is so good man...

you know what. imagine how your body will be if you had the water your body needed? you'd be a superhuman!

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

No, you'd just end up needing the toilet every 5 minutes.

No, eight actual cups of water on their own. But I do have about 4 big mugs of juice a day. Too much water makes me feel a bit dizzy.

Don't know about superhuman but I'm sure they'll be some drastic change. I think I should start with one cup a day, then two, then three, I don't want to bloat and become a balloon. They'll be too much osmosis going on!

Exactly. This is the main reason why I don't drink all the water that I'm supposed to.

It should encourage you to drink more water. If you're not going to the loo enough, then that's when you should start to worry.

Water is really important in order for your kidneys to function properly. You can't risk your kidney's just for a silly reason like that. -__-

not true. if your body really needs that water you wont even need to go toilet at all coz it'll be absorbing it all.

otherwise, your body gets used to it.

i need another huge glass of water now.

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

You will, because even though you're consuming water, you also have water stored in your body from food that you eat so drinking water adds to the 'supply'.

The time it takes for your body to absorb water depends how thirsty you are- so you have a point of course. Apparently, the temperature of the water also depends on how fast your bladder empties itself..

my body needs the water doesn't seem to absorb it that much/for long

Do you drink enough? Is the temperature cool? Do you drink it in large amounts? Do you have enough fruit/veg?

Then again everyone's body works in different ways, so can't really guarantee any of that affects it.

I don't like this topic now cause I'm going on with myself. +_+

I need to get a really cool reusable bottle to drink my water in, and to keep my water reasonably cold. Love freezing cold water, it tastes better.

That was more of a reply to Lilly than you, as I agree with you - I was basically saying I still need the toilet even though I drink water after my body needs it. Obviously not just after one glass.

lol doesn't sound right, talking about needing the loo

but have you kept at it TPOS? coz i have (slightly) and now i dont need to go so often when i drink a lot

If you're going to the toilet every 5 mins theres something SERIOUSLY wrong with you, and it aint the water. These could be symptoms of diabetes. Best get that checked.

How big is ths cup? Coz 8 cups is way too much.Try drinking a glass with every meal (thats 3 right there). If your out n about have a bottle of water to keep you hydrated. And fizzy pop doznt count.

And that should be enough.

Back in BLACK

I really need to replace the lovely tasting ASDA juices, with water.

Every 5 minutes <--------- EXAGGERATION DUDE. I should have added an emote after that post to emphasize it a bit more.

-.-

Drink a glass of water before or after each salah, then one glass with each meal (presuming you have 3 main meals a day)

You must be on old shriveled up lady, dried out and falling to pieces

Shok

You better be careful, kidney stones is the result of not drinking water even juices are not sufficient and cordials are worse.

I actually heard that drinking 8 glasses is a misconception. It isnt scientifically proven that eight glasses is the required amount and there is some evidence that it might be too much (overhydration).

Its is a misconception. I had always thought that too much water would make you bloat.

Someone once told me that you begin to smell of 'urine', but i didn't take that seriously, 'cause it was one of those 'primary school' sentences with no evidence and most likely occurred 'cause they didn't know how to clean themselves properly.

BUT, its not the fact that it's too much, its just the 'minimum'. We should be having 'atleast' that much, if not more.
