Converting PDF's to Kindle format

Assalamu'alaikum Smile

Hope everyone's well inshaaAllah

I'm looking to buy a Kindle because there's a PDF version available for almost any Islamic book but some PDF's are easier to read on the Kindle (or any other reader I'm guessing) from what I've read so did some digging and I came across this  how to geek article on converting PDF's to ebook format:

Pretty neat I must say. Anyone here have a Kindle?

Ive got a Kindle and read PDFs on them all the time.

When you connect your Kindle to the Amazon online store you get a special Kindle email. So all you have to do is email the PDF to the Kindle Email address and hey presto its downloaded onto your kindle.

I take my kindle everywhere. And its sooooo addictive. Coz you can just buy a book and BOOM its instantly downloaded and ready for you to read.

...

BOOM!

lol

Do you do this without formatting the PDF's? I've been saying I wanna buy one for a while now!

@ feefs: no one said I had to be around all the time! Wink

No formatting required. Just email the pdf to your Kindle email and your golden. Of course its not as good as if you download the book from the Kindle Store. But still good.

If you already dont have the kindle, consider the alternatives too.

"Kobo" and "Nook". These should also directly accept pdf files, no conversion to the kindle format necessary.

AFAIK, the Nook is being heavily discounted in some places at the moment, but the simple e-reader may be mostly out of stock as it was temporarily discounted to £29.99.

The tablet versions of the above (Nook HD) will also have a kindle app and are useful as tablets too.

And how do you convert a PDF into a word doc? I think I've forgotten or maybe I didn't really know in the first place. Help?

@ Looking to See - I'm sorry I've been away for a while. I still haven't made up my mind :/. Still reading around to decide on the best ereader (primarily for PDF's) plus it doesn't help that I'm so indecisive!!! I think it would be great to have in time for Ramadan though. What books/e-formats do you tend to go for?
