Go On, Just Admit You’re Wrong…

Salaam

Admitting your wrong is one of the hardest things to do…

Many people are addicted to being right and love to get the last word…

I read the following in a psychology text book once…

“What is the reward of being right? Addicted to being right shows that the person has issues. One might be trying to save face or hold on to self esteem. What ever the reason is for you, next time you are caught being addicted to being right, try a new tact. Try seeing it as an opportunity to admit you're wrong. How is admitting you're wrong helpful? Admitting you are wrong shows you're human”.

Your Family And Your Deen

Salaam

Are you and your family on the same religious wavelength?

From what I’ve seen it’s kinda rare to see kids and their family on exactly the same religious wavelength…

What’s your family situation like?

Do you ever feel that it’s harder to implement Islam at home and find it easier to do your own thing outside of home?

Do you ever find yourself omitting vital details regarding your whereabouts, cos you know that they won’t approve? Do you ever feel that your parents are an obstacle in your deen?

Where's The Honour In This?

Family guilty of 'honour killing'

A father and his two sons have been found guilty of murdering his daughter's boyfriend in an "honour killing" after she became pregnant.
Arash Ghorbani-Zarin, 19, was found stabbed 46 times in a car in Rosehill, Oxford, on 20 November last year.

The Iranian Muslim had been studying at Oxford Brookes University.

Chomir Ali, 44, was found guilty of ordering sons Mohammed Mujibar Rahman, 19, and Mamnoor Rahman, 16, to kill Mr Ghorbani-Zarin, at Oxford Crown Court.

Name Calling

Salaam

(I started this thread up in the old forum..I'd like to see it being discussed again)

Dirty Kafir! Wahabi! Extremist! Biddati! Blasphemer! Worship’s scholars! Commits Shirk! Not part of Muslim Ummah!

Muslim Women Need To Start Working-Blunkett

Salaam

More Muslim women need to get out of the family home and enter the workplace if genuine equality is to be achieved in Britain, says former Home Secretary David Blunkett.

The minister was speaking in Glasgow last week. He said it was time for Islamic community to start changing their attitude to women and encouraging all their mothers, daughters and wives to learn English, get a job and escape the control of male dominated households.

He said “Quite a number of people in the south Asian community in the country who have no job and are not connected to society are women”.

Do Me A Favour-Just Shut Up…

Salaam

..Is what I felt like saying to a sister who speaking so loudly, sitting behind me in the last Islamic programme I attended a few weeks ago…

I couldn’t of course, she was older then me….I did look at her many times, hoping she’d get the message…other people did try to “shush” up her…but she was adamant in filling her mate in (and every other women in the gathering) with her life story…

I know that Islamic gatherings…Eid prayers etc is an exciting time cos one meets up with friends/family that they haven’t seen for a long time…however, there is a time and place to socialise whic

The Night Of Power

Salaam

We have entered the last Ashra of Ramadan…and the last odd nights.

In one of these odd nights falls Lailatul Qadr….the night of all nights….night in which the Holy Qur’an was revealed.

The the night which is considered BETTER than 83 years of worship. How much better? This is knowledge that exists with Allah (swt) alone….

The night in which prayers are answered and sins are forgiven….the night in which we are blessed with an overflow of angels.

So it makes SENSE to stay awake all night, in order to seek an abundance of reward, mercy, blessings from our Creator.

Being Mates With Non Muslims

Salaam

What’s wrong with it?

Editors editorial in the latest issue of the Revival touched on this issue…

He said “When was the last time you invited a non Muslim to your house? When was the last time you tried to explain to a non Muslim about your beliefs and lifestyle? When was the last time you went out of your way to help a non Muslim? When was the last time you gave a non-Muslim an Islamic leaflet, magazine or even the Quran? When was the last time you invited a non Muslim to your mosque or an Islamic event? I hope some of you will say 'I have', but sadly it's not the majority.

So Many Muslims, So Little Islam

Salaam

Someone mentioned this point to me once….using the catchy slogan in the title above. It really made me think.

Does anyone believe that sometimes our focus becomes lost?

I mean, sometimes we get so bogged down dunia stuff…work/Uni/school/family etc etc that we sometimes forget stop to think about Allah (swt)…..sometimes the purpose of being sent to this world gets pushed at the back of our mind.

I feel that the people who are actually busy working for Islam, striving to improve themselves and those around them using hiqmah (wisdom) are few and far between.
