BBC2- LIFE OF PROPHET MUHAMMAD - 3 PART SERIES

Sajid Iqbal —

The Life of Muhammad
Monday 11th July, 21:00 on BBC Two

In a ground-breaking first for British television, this three-part series presented by Rageh Omaar charts the life of Muhammad, a man who - for the billion and half Muslims across the globe - is the messenger and final prophet of God.

In a journey that is both literal and historical and beginning in Muhammad's birthplace of Mecca, Omaar investigates the Arabia Muhammad was born into - a world of tribal loyalties and polytheistic religion.

Drawing on the expertise and comment of some of the world's leading academics and commentators on Islam, the programme examines Muhammad's first marriage to Khadijah and how he received the first of the revelations that had such a profound effect both on his life, and on the lives of those closest to him.

Lioness of Allah
bilanI found it was too anhalytical at times, especially when they were talking baout the prophet's ﷺ night journey. I didn't catch the last episode yet, but I thought the series was going to be more detailed actually. also surprised at how there weren't really any scholars..most of them were academics at universities...

I know what you mean. I expected scholars but most of the people commenting were people who have written books or university professors.

The series overall was good, but i think it could greatly be improved. Some of the comments made were a bit to brash for my liking though....

@feefs, guess thats true.

Im actually watching episode 3. theyre talking about Sharia law and how some of the punishments we know today like cutting off of limbs for stealing and stoning/lashes arent something that was practised by the prophet(saw) but something introduced after he(saw) passed away (2 centuries after I think they said). Can someone clarify please?

Also they showed a picture of someone whose hand had been cut off...um..how are they able to do wudhu or clean themselves when they go toilet? :s

edit: alsoooo, just watching the clip of protests about applying Sharia law in europe. why are people so obsessed with this? As a muslim you would be living by sharia law anyways would u not? no matter where u are? doesnt have to be an official law or anything as I understand it. besides isnt it against Islam to be force it on people?
(though I doubt they could) :s

ok, more questions raised:

1) where do people get it from that Aisha(ra) was 9 when she married the prophet(saw)?
2) (deleted)
3) not from this episode, but how exactly did the status of slaves change when Islam arrived?

now theyre saying that the wearing of the veil wasnt for all women? whaaaat?!

one of the guys convicted of acts of terrorism is saying that civilans share the blame of casulties caused by the government they voted for goes to war! so basically theyre free game! whaaat?!

finished! I really liked the last 10 mins of it and lol at how they said something about muslims feeling humiliated (loved using tht word didnt they?) by the power of the west...rlly?

loved the imam they had though :D

If anyone COULD answer these Qs id very much appreciate it. more so the capital punishment and slaves on. or what should i be looking at to find out? google right?

OceanBecause Prophet Muhammad ﷺ were/are for the ALL mankind, then why was he sent LAST? Surely the mankind which existed before Proph's ﷺ time could not benefit from his success?

Cos messages couldn't be spread throughout the whole world before that?
