I have watched it all now. IMO it is quite an impressive feat, worth watching as long as you are willing to hear things that may not be 100% to your views and likings. Which is a good thing.
The bit on the last sermon is very good.
On a pedantic note, I did find the starting of all three which mentioned that "he changed history" as a bit weird. He MADE it, INFLUENCED it, but there was no set history that was to happen that was to be changed - this is not "Back to the Future".

I found it was too anhalytical at times, especially when they were talking baout the prophet's night journey. I didn't catch the last episode yet, but I thought the series was going to be more detailed actually. also surprised at how there weren't really any scholars..most of them were academics at universities...

I know what you mean. I expected scholars but most of the people commenting were people who have written books or university professors.
The series overall was good, but i think it could greatly be improved. Some of the comments made were a bit to brash for my liking though....

@feefs, guess thats true.
Im actually watching episode 3. theyre talking about Sharia law and how some of the punishments we know today like cutting off of limbs for stealing and stoning/lashes arent something that was practised by the prophet(saw) but something introduced after he(saw) passed away (2 centuries after I think they said). Can someone clarify please?
Also they showed a picture of someone whose hand had been cut off...um..how are they able to do wudhu or clean themselves when they go toilet? :s
edit: alsoooo, just watching the clip of protests about applying Sharia law in europe. why are people so obsessed with this? As a muslim you would be living by sharia law anyways would u not? no matter where u are? doesnt have to be an official law or anything as I understand it. besides isnt it against Islam to be force it on people?
(though I doubt they could) :s
ok, more questions raised:
1) where do people get it from that Aisha(ra) was 9 when she married the prophet(saw)?
2) (deleted)
3) not from this episode, but how exactly did the status of slaves change when Islam arrived?
now theyre saying that the wearing of the veil wasnt for all women? whaaaat?!
one of the guys convicted of acts of terrorism is saying that civilans share the blame of casulties caused by the government they voted for goes to war! so basically theyre free game! whaaat?!
finished! I really liked the last 10 mins of it and lol at how they said something about muslims feeling humiliated (loved using tht word didnt they?) by the power of the west...rlly?
loved the imam they had though

I think there's a hadith that the Prophet said that (even) if A'isha (ra) stole he would have cut off her hand. It was in order to show that the same rules applied to everybody

I might be wrong about that though.
No i've heard of that too. I'm not sure if it is a weak hadith or what. But i don't think i have a refernce for it.
1. Why was one man chosen for to be a messenger and not a group of people together?
why? do you think a group would have been better?
There is no personal opinion on this at all. How it happened, happened. It was a success. Would starting with a group been a bad idea?
i just never imagined it. and cant seem to be able to... might have been more "this is a scam so you can take our money" talk from the people.
Could have been as genuine as the message as how we got it
no, imsaying. how the prophets, peace be upon them all, already had a hard time with people saying they were just making it up, if it was a group, that kinda talk might have been more frequent.
plus lots of people = different personalities, different life stories etc...
Probably an issue of each prophet being blessed and unique.
Besides, it could get confusing if different people were giving messages to the same community at the same time.
There have been multiple prophets at the same time, even prophets that have met, but I would suspect that most had their own communities to preach to... then again there was a whole lineage of prophets from Prophet Ibrahim (as) to ... erm... well, quite a few I think there the prophet's son was also a prophet and they would I would assume at times have overlap preaching to the same community?

Allah could have sent a group of messengers (in surah yasin "when we sent messengers" first two were sent, then they were backed up with a third AS) however He chose to send His final messenger SAW alone.
Why? I don't know but it was likely a case of saving the best 'till last: a prophet for the GLOBAL community, for the period of 'then until the end'. It's a big calling and it takes a big person to take that up. our Prophet SAW is possessed of huge character.

Watching the first ep now whilst eating this fajita thing.
1. Why was one man chosen for to be a messenger and not a group of people together?
Because when you want to make a big change, follow something different or completely new, you have to be brave...and alone. Your ideas and determination are your strength. If they are good enough then they will get others on board, if not then you lose out.
Rosa Parks was one person, Gandhi was one person, Hitler was one person, Stalin was one person.
The Qur'an says "Whoever will follow the Qur'an will be guided"
not "All those"
The fact that it isn't plural shows that people who follow the truth will NOT be following the masses. They have to stop being sheep and potentially be alone. There won't be many people who do it.
And for the same reason, the Prophet had to be alone.

Perhaps your knowledge of the life of the Prophet isn't all that either??
