How We Chose the Best Online Quran Academy

We judged each academy on six points:

1. Teacher quality. Are lessons led by a qualified Quran teacher?
2. Live feedback. Does a teacher hear your recitation and correct mistakes?
3. Learning path. Is there a clear route from the Arabic letters to fluent reading?
4. Tajweed focus. Are the rules taught properly, not just mentioned?
5. Flexibility. Can you choose class times that suit your time zone?
6. Value. Can you try before you pay?

1. Holy Quran Learning (Our Top Pick)

Holy Quran Learning is our top choice for the best online Quran academy. It offers live, one to one classes with a dedicated tutor, so every lesson is built around the student.

The academy covers the full journey. Beginners start with Noorani Qaida and learn the Arabic letters, harakat and joining rules. Students then move to Quran reading with Tajweed, and later to Hifz if they wish to memorise.

What we like:

• Live one to one lessons, so the teacher hears and corrects every mistake.
• A clear path: Noorani Qaida, then Quran reading, then Tajweed and Hifz.
• Classes for kids, adults and complete beginners.
• Flexible timings for families in the UK, USA, Canada and beyond.
• A 3 day free trial, so you can meet the teacher before you commit.
• Free learning resources, including Noorani Qaida pages, surahs with PDF and daily duas.

Best for: families who want one academy for every stage, from the first letter to memorising the Quran.

2. Qutor

Qutor is an online marketplace for Quran tutors. You browse tutor profiles, compare them and book the one you like.

What we like:

• A wide choice of tutors.
• Live one to one lessons.

Keep in mind: quality and teaching style depend on the tutor you pick, as there is no single academy curriculum.

Best for: parents who want to choose their own tutor.

3. Quran Academy

Quran Academy is an app based platform. It helps learners practise Quran reading and memorisation at their own pace.

What we like:

• Learn anywhere on your phone.
• Good for regular daily practice.

Keep in mind: self paced learning cannot fully replace a live teacher who hears your recitation.

Best for: self motivated learners who want extra practice between classes.

4. Bayyinah TV

Bayyinah TV is a subscription video platform focused on Quran study and Arabic. It suits learners who want to understand the meaning of the Quran in depth.

What we like:

• Rich courses on Quranic Arabic and reflection.
• Learn at your own pace.

Keep in mind: lessons are recorded, so there is no live correction of your recitation.

Best for: adults who already read the Quran and want deeper understanding.

5. Studio Arabiya

Studio Arabiya teaches Arabic and Quran, with a strong focus on classical Arabic.

What we like:

• A good fit for learners who want Arabic alongside Quran.
• Live teaching.

Keep in mind: it suits learners with a specific interest in the Arabic language, more than young beginners.

Best for: teens and adults who want Quran and classical Arabic together.

Why Live One to One Classes Work Best

Reading the Quran correctly depends on sound. Small mistakes in a letter or a vowel can change the meaning of a word. An app or a video cannot hear you. A live teacher can.

That is why we rank academies with live, one to one teaching highest. Your teacher listens, corrects you on the spot and moves at your pace. Children stay focused, and adults learn without feeling rushed.

How to Choose the Right Online Quran Academy

Ask these questions before you sign up:

• Are the classes live, with a real teacher?
• Does the academy teach Tajweed properly?
• Is there a clear plan from Noorani Qaida to fluent reading?
• Can you choose class times that suit your family?
• Is there a free trial?

If the answer to all five is yes, you have found a strong academy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which is the best online Quran academy? Holy Quran Learning is our top pick. It offers live one to one classes, a full path from Noorani Qaida to Hifz and a 3 day free trial.

Can adults learn the Quran online? Yes. Many adults start from the Arabic letters. With a patient teacher and regular practice, adults often progress quickly.

What age can children start online Quran classes? Most children can start once they can sit and focus for a short lesson, often from around four or five years old.

How long does it take to learn to read the Quran? Most beginners finish Noorani Qaida in about two to six months with regular classes. Fluent reading with Tajweed then takes steady practice.
