The failures of introspection

about a hundred years after the muslims of spain decided to become introspective, to purify their faith, there were no muslims left there.

A few centuries after the muslims in the middle east followed the same pattern, it leads to where we are now, through many bloody periods where people such as ibn wahaab took the purification to such degrees that they considered it not only halaal, but their duty to shed the blood of other muslims who had a different Aqeedah (they considered them mushrik).

So why is it that muslim scholars find this instropection by muslims to be such a beautiful thing?

Lobotomy

Goiung back to a lecture that was put in a blog a while ago: Allah (swt) is with those Who submit, there was one bit that I think warrants further discussion.

A point that the Shaykh made was placed in the summary:

whenever people are defeated or begin to lose..they always blame other people...very unusual of the Ottomans reaction when they began to lose land...the Ottoman's didn't blame anybody..they asked 'what are we doing wrong?'

They weren't blaming others

Can I say that this may have been a bad thing instead of a good thing as it was portrayed in the lecture?

The Idiot's Guide to the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

By Irfan Jalil

When was Israel created? Why?

Israel was created in 1948. It gave Jews their own state and homeland for the first time since Biblical times.

When was Palestine created?

The land on which Israel was created was originally Palestine and a part of the Turkish Ottoman Empire. After World War One Palestine was handed over to Britain. Fighting between Jewish immigrants and the native Arabs erupted during the years of British control. The UN divided Palestine into a Jewish state called Israel and an Arab state called Palestine.

The Call of Ibrahim

Author:
Muhammad Al-Shareef

When Ibrahim (Alaihis salaam) completed the structure of the Ka'bah, Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) commanded him to call the people to Hajj. Ibrahim (Alaihis salaam) pleaded, "O Allah! How shall my voice reach all of those people?" Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) told him that his duty was only to give the call and it was up to Allah to make it reach the people.

Ibrahim (Alaihis salaam) then climbed Mount Arafat and called out in his loudest voice, "O People! Verily Allah has prescribed upon you Hajj, so perform Hajj."

Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) revealed in the Qur'an: "And proclaim the Hajj among mankind. They will come to thee on foot and (mounted) on every camel, lean on account of journeys through deep and distant mountain highways" (Surat Al-Hajj, Ayat 28).

When did it all begin?

There has been a Muslim presence in Britain for at least 300 years. Yes 300 years! However, migration of Muslims to Britain on a large scale began in the 1950’s and ended in the 1970’s.

It has taken over 30 years for the Muslim community to mature and settle in a Western environment. It was done slowly but surely.

Number of Muslims in Britain

In 1951 the Muslim population in Britain was about 23,000. Ten years later, it was about 82,000 and by 1971 it was 369,000. 1

At present, there are an estimated 1.8 million Muslims in the UK, making Muslims the largest religious minority in Britain. 2
