Malcolm X

Malcolm X on the Importance of Da'wah

Malcolm X

This post is following on from my previous blog post where that had Muslims actually carried out Da'wah in America, people would not have fallen for the lies by Elijah Muhammad.

When Malcolm X went on Hajj and saw the true Islam in its multicultural glory, he also saw that the Muslims were complacent. As someone that had in the past recruited thousands of people, the wheels in his mind were spinning:

The importance of Da'wah

Malcolm X

From Malcolm X's autobiography:

I was later to learn that Elijah Muhammad's tales, like this one of 'Yacub', infuriated the Muslims of the East. While at Mecca, I reminded them that it was their fault, since they themselves hadn't done enough to make real Islam known in the West. Their sileince left a vacuum into which any religious faker could step and mislead our people

Malcolm X assassin is freed on parole in NYC

The only man to admit shooting Malcolm X has been freed on parole, 45 years after he helped assassinate the civil rights leader in New York City.

State Department of Correctional Services spokeswoman Linda Foglia says Thomas Hagan was freed Tuesday.

He had spent two days a week at a Manhattan prison under a work-release program.

The 69-year-old Hagan was the last man still serving time in the 1965 killing. He and two others were convicted of murder.

Hagan says he was one of three gunmen who shot Malcolm X at Harlem's Audubon Ballroom. But he says the two men who were convicted with him were not involved. They maintained their innocence and were paroled in the 1980s.

Hagan has repeatedly expressed regret.

Malcolm X and Hajj

Many Muslims who have been blessed to make Hajj often speak of how the journey is a life-changing experience. This is more the case for some than others.

Malcolm X is one Muslim who saw the light of true Islam through his Hajj in April 1964. As a former member and speaker for the Nation of Islam, a black spiritual and nationalist movement, he believed that the white man was the devil and the black man superior.

After leaving the Nation of Islam in March 1964, he made Hajj, which helped change his perspective on whites and racism completely.
