I had a strange dream

I had a strange dream?

I woke up one morning after a strange dream. I dreamt that I was walking in the countryside up a gentle hill and on reaching the top. I found that I was looking down on to a grassy meadow.

In the meadow I saw three men who appeared to be walking round in circles, I could tell that they had been doing this for some time, as the grass was flattened and bare soil was to be seen places. Every time one of the men came close to another man who was also walking round in a circle, they seemed to be shouting at each other and waving their arms and fists? A rather strange sight to behold.

On reaching the meadow and coming close to the first man, who was still going round in circles. I asked him, “Why was he going round in circles? When he had all the meadow to walk in.”

He said, “I am not walking round in circles, and I am free to go anywhere I want to.”

I thought, I won’t disagree with him. So I asked him, “Why do you shout and wave your fists at the other two men when they come close to you?”

He replied, “One is an Atheist and does not believe there is a God. While the other is a Muslim, who believes in a Moon God, because on top of their temple they have a Crescent Moon. So I tell them both to keep away”.

I went on my way, till I came across one of the other men, who was walking round in circles. So I asked him the same question. “Why was he going round in circles? When he had all the meadow to walk in.”

Again I got the same reply, “I am not walking round in circles, and I am free to go anywhere I want to.”

Again I thought, I won’t disagree with him. So I asked him, “Why do you shout and wave your fists at the other two men when they come close to you?”

He replied, “One is an Atheist and does not believe there is a God. While the other is a Christian, they believe in human sacrifice. Because they say Jesus died for their sins and they eat his body and drink his blood,”

Again I went on my way, till I came across the last man, who was still walking round in circles. So I asked him the same question. “Why was he going round in circles? When he had all the meadow to walk in.”

Again I got the same reply, “I am not walking round in circles, and I am free to go anywhere I want to.”

So once more I thought, I won’t disagree. So I asked him, “Why do you shout and wave your fists at the other two men when they come close to you?”

He replied, “Why those two are religious nuts and believe in a invisible God. But they only do that because they use their religious ideology as a crutch, and sometimes they use the crutch to beat you with.”

As I walked on, I thought to myself. Those three men are in a prison of their own making; they are each trapped by their ideology and culture. Each won’t take the trouble, or is too afraid, to find out more about the other person. Lastly, each one can’t see the prison that they are trapped in.

insightful.

Ultimately we are all trapped in our prisons, unable to get past what we see and understand.

The ones of us that are open to new ideas are probably in bigger wider prisons that are less restrictive.

"For too long, we have been a passively tolerant society, saying to our citizens 'as long as you obey the law, we will leave you alone'" - David Cameron, UK Prime Minister. 13 May 2015.

To true, but i often wonder. Who are the lucky ones, the ones trapped in their prison, but don't know it. Or the ones who know it and are trying to enlarge their prison?
