...Commands the page,

So Create Blog Post I shall.

Hi Everyone, How are you? Hope you're well and happy,
If not then hopefully that's counting towards more happiness in the afterlife.

About 4 months into the university term now and I have to admit the socialising aspect appeals to me a lot more than the academic, and it's pretty easy to push everything to the side.

So I'm glad for the revival, where now and then I can just come back and refresh things, it's useful to revive me in terms of Islamic News etc. (Don't pardon the pun, I meant to make it)

So yeah...Times are hard, and a lot of us are incredibly privileged.

Not to seem ungrateful, but sometimes that can be a bad thing...

I was about to explain using the pronoun 'us' then realised that is stereotyping and slightly accusatory... then I was about to explain in first person using 'I', and then realised that might mean I was Revealing my sins

So I won't explain,

I'll just hope that you'll think about it and come to your own conclusions, You can ask/discuss at your pleasure, everyone's probably right. And if you come up with nothing- then I hope that that's because it's never a bad thing for you, and not just because you're not that bright. If either of those is the case, Just Aask (:

Love you all FSA, And FS Humanity x

Good to see you around Rawrrs.

and yes, we all need reviving from time to time (or all the time as the case may be).

Thankyou for pointing out that the pun you put in there was intended.

Heyy! I'm good thank you, And I noticed you still haven't answered Blum 3
Yeah I've been pretty busy with Uni and stuff, With the heavy workload and like, the fun xD I hardly have been online for non-assignment related stuff.

Hm, big question.
I much prefer uni to college, but then I was, I think, a slightly different person in College. In uni it's a lot more open minded, and if you're willing to join in with stuff, people are willing to have you. I've met some amazing people here and at college anyone amazing I knew were people I knew from school. It's a lot less restricted which makes you want to skive off a lot but esp. on my course, most people on it are doing it because they're genuinely interested in it, not for the diamond studded career waiting for them at the end.

And no I didn't, because I knew if I didn't go to uni, I wouldn't do anything xD I want to put off getting a job as long as possible tbh.

What about you? How's college? Going to uni?

Thanks, do you think we are? I think it can make us forget ourselves, and the fact that we came from mere dust and none of these materialistic things matter at the end of the day.

#Before you look at the thorns of the rose , look at it's beauty. Before you complain about the heat of the sun , enjoy it's light. Before you complain about the blackness of the night, think of it's peace and quiet... #

im good, as far as the winter definition of good goes. Biggrin

and yes, i think we are overprivileged, it's pretty scary and it(i couldnt have phrased it better) "make us forget ourselves and what we are". who would have thought staying humble could be that hard. but i like the challenge, it's interesting.

yeah, college is good, i enjoy it hamdoulillah, for me its more an extension of the last few months of secondary school, when everyone was honest with each other and you've finally met people you actually enjoyed the company of. Except a little bit even better.
Well.. the above is when im being real hyper and happy. but sometimes college couldnt suck more and dropping out couldnt be more appealing.

im not really interested in uni...well..no..i should phrase my feelings properly. I still don't know what im interested in. So i'm (right now) not planning to enter uni straight after college. i want to go there not to go there but to study something i enjoy. and so far..i don't know.

Im really glad you're enjoying yourself!! uni sounds fun (minus the workload bit, but it doesnt sound that bad, coz it seems you were able to stay on task and not get distracted by..hmm..let's say...REvvy!) so uni must be enjoyable, i guess its the up part of studying something you actually CHOSE and hence should enjoy! (or you're just a major geek who enjoys working)

Well my self-controllable friend, i salute you!

Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary?

Uni is fun and hard at the same time. It is also boring, & lots of it's easy too.

So ur right to say we can't usually make generalisations (or is that itself a generalisation??)

Main thing is to keep reminding urself where u'v come from & where u want to be eventually.. Because time is an illusion & living solely for the Now can cut us off from our identity.

Don't just do something! Stand there.

well its good to know everyones enjoying life
and ermmm i want to join this discussion because it made me laugh but i cant because i feel stupidly tired right now at work and am confused abit on whats happening Sad
ermmmmm....my reason for coming on revival was too learn alot and you know what. at 1st i didnt think it was good but tbh i quite like it and have learnt Smile
ermmmmm can i ask everyone a q. now?
well another Q. to the one i just asked now before anyone tries to get clever with me Biggrin
but why are we mentioning college/uni. no love for the working people of the world? lool
ok i feel like im polluting this discussion so ima stop writing....NOW! Biggrin

Erm. Who the hell are you? Fool Blum 3

Yeah Unis pretty good. Its just that so much of uni life has nothing to do with what you went there to do. Which is learn and focus on a subject of study. But Its only the first year so maybe that'll change next year. And it's probably my fault too, since some people do focus and study hard.

I guess because the way most people percieve working or a job is that it's sort of like a dead end. Or The End of the road so it seems moot discussing it. Obviously it's not always but education is always more part of a process and still playing the game liiiike.

Iunno >.<

I'm glad and I agree about it being difficult to stay humble when you have so much and yet want so much more because there's too much on offer.

Fair enough, I'm At uni and don't know what i'm going to do after so it's not really rare.

I haven't got a clue where you got the last bit I quoted you on from lol :S Like yeah I'm not distracted by revvy cos i'm not on here much anymore but that doesn't mean I don't get distracted. I actually have a pretty hard time of keeping up with my assignments cos they build up and they're always due in around the same few days. It's pretty sucky ¬¬ But yeah the fact that I chose it means I enjoy it more when i'm in the zone, itd be all the suckier to be doing essays on Quant. Phys.

we're all human, we can all get distracted. and its just uni, doesnt matter!

the self-controllable bit? well..you seem to be pretty good with self-control so...doesnt matter (accept the compliment)

im not completely unaware of what i wanna do later. i just dont think i wanna go uni, i wanna do something more..hmm...islamic studies based... i wanna (at least) SPEAK ARABIC!

erm... is that really what u thought the purpose of uni was? maybe by the end, but unless ur 1st yr mark contributes to ur final grade, all u have to do is enough to pass... as long as u find which bits of the course actually DO interest u (or things about the subject that u actually like, rather than what teachers prescribe u), that u can take up (much) later... when u really should start studying.

unis about meeting open minded ppl, expanding horizons, making the most of free time to be creative with like-minded ppl.

or uni might just be about getting mashed as poss & posing in fotos with ppl u dont really know/like, in which case then its just prolonging childhood (and not in a good way)

Don't just do something! Stand there.

Ya'qub wrote:

Yep. And I still do.
When I was picking uni courses, I was going to go one of two ways. Either something career-directed which would pretty much set me up for a job after or a subject that was more or less pointless in terms of jobs except in that it was A degree. I went with the latter and picked something I was interested in literally because I wanted to study it. I didn't really go hoping to meet new people and all the rest of it, Whatever I did and wherever, that would have been the case- it's never hard to do that. So yeah, geeky though it is, I literally did go to uni with the intention of learning and it just gets lost along the way.
Just need to get into some kinda balancey thing.

glad u made that choice
I've made friends with a few philosophy students in my uni, they are all wanting to go into loads of different kinds of job, and their degree IS still gonna help them... or more like u said, A degree will help them.
but THEIR degree helps them think deeper and more rationally about things, and find REALLY interesting questions to ask.
My one is more career oriented, but I'm still finding areas which are unrelated to the job I want but are still gonna help me be a more rounded person.

I know right! Biggrin And thats exactly why I sometimes feel regretful about not sort of giving more time & attention to that when its something I actually want to do. Easy to lose sight of that when there's more the fun type of entertaining stuff to do.

Oh, are you still doing that teaching course?
& Cool! I hope mine helps me be more well rounded too. I think what you do outside and around your degree contributes a lot to that too.

Theology is the entire reason why you're ON the Revival! It's the Study of Religion (/of God).
More people don't know what Philosophy means, especially as it's a lot broader than Theology.

im doing english language and linguistics now, but swapped some modules over from the english teaching dept.

eventually i want to get into designing course materials that are actually good. Cos theres loads of rubbish ones & i think over the course i can develop the theory behind it and stuff.
do u ever talk about things with ur coursemates (and not just about deadlines or complaining about being bored in lectures)... like about how the issues ur learning about affect ppls day-to-day lives?

Oh okay. I want to say that sounds fun but it doesnt Blum 3 It sounds pretty difficult. But it's cool you're still on the teaching route.

Haha there is rather a lot of whinging Blum 3 But erm yeah I guess, especially about like the religion aspects- a lot of philosophy students at least at our uni, are like extremely anti-theist, so they feel pretty strongly about that. Alternatively in theology there are quite a few militant christians who are the same but oppositely. If you know what I mean. Yeah I mean I do courses which are full of opinionated people. If you think that it's 'stupid' or 'backwards' to believe in religion, for example, it would frustrate you that any amount of the world did. And vice versa. I don't know if that's the kinda stuff you meant though?

Well, ppl in 1st yr tend to be opinionated. im sure their minds will open up more as the more they learn the realise that theres a lot they dont know.

if they dont do that, im not sure how they'll progress on that course.

the only real danger is opening ur mind so much ur brain falls out
