After begging my Dad for tickets, persuading my mum to come (even though she's not a Muslim) as well as my Auntie who had just found out I was a Muslim, we made our way to Olympia ( the train was completely full of Muslims lol I think the non-Muslims were nervous) on Saturday. After watching, hearing and reading about how amazing it was I didn't want to be dissapponted and I wasn't! I bought loads of books, spoke to some of the sisters and finally got a copy of the Revival Magazine! and subscribed! The magazine is well presented and amazing- it was worth it. My dad was having debates with some brothers and my mum and auntie was given leaflets and leaflets because they said they weren't Muslim! They eventually bought a Qu'ran for 69p lol! But, in my Auntie's words:
It won't lead to anything... I may not even read it!
I just laughed, you have to. If she didn't want to read it why did she buy it lol! I pray that one day she will just flick through it, like I did when my dad gave me one and it opens her eyes inshallah.
Overall I loved it and we stayed till like 8pm lol, missed our train. I hope there is one next year- I might bring my friends because my family did say what touched them was the nice warm feeling the brothers and sisters gave them!
A'salaamu Aliakum!

were we warm and approachable or pushy and in-your-face?
Why didn't you sign up to distirbute/write articles for the Revival?

In regards to the siuation with your aunty perhaps if you tried talking about Islam and how its changed your life and reading the Quran in front of her that might help her understand.
Something really amzaing happended a couple weeks ago. I was on a plane on my way back to the UK from Marrakech. I didnt get a seat next to my sister so ended up sitting next to a non Muslim couple. Im really glad i did coz i got chatting to them and MashAllah the guy was a really intelligent man. Anyways the plan was to sleep on the plane but i couldnt get comfy so decided to read my Quran. They guy next to me looked over an started to read it as well. He then asks me would it be ok if he could read it coz he has just seen a bit in there about Prophet Nuh (Noah) P.B.U.H. So i handed it over and he was asking me questions about the Quran and Islam in general. He then asked if it would be ok if he kept the Quran so i said of course.
Anyway the point is if your strong in your deen (faith) other ppl are gonna notice it. And most of all be patient.

Mash'Allah Naz thats good.
i remember reading my Qur'an on the bus once and the woman next to be got really scared and clutched her crucifix and started murmuring stuff under her breath.
One thing, I was wondering if anyone knows:
It is established that you shouldn't give a copy of the Qur'an (i.e. in Arabic) to a non-Muslim because they might not wash before touching it.
You CAN give a translation to a non-Muslim though.
Does this mean ONLY English text inside, or how about those translations that have the Arabic and English next to each other?

I doubt a lot of non Muslims can even read Arabic let alone understand it but i could be wrong. As for the English translation Quran which also have Arabic in them i think it depends on which way the Quran opens. Some of the English translation Qurans which also have Arabic inside them open left to right. I have kind of made the assumption that if it opens left to right then it dont matter if you done your wudu but if it opens right to left then you should do your wudu. However, saying that your suppose to be in a state of wudu at all times.
hmmmm its a difficult one.

There are millions of Arab-Christians in Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and other places.

When you said about giving the Quran to non Muslims i thought you might be referring to ppl in Britain hence why i made the comment about non Muslims not being able to read Arabic. But your right there are lots of countries where they do speak Arabic. Isnt Arabic like the second most spoken language in the world?

Walking through life unnoticed
Knowing that no one cares
Too consumed in their masquerade
No one sees me there
And still I'll sings
Till everything burns.

Asalamu alaykum,
Ya'qub, about your previous question. If the Qur'an has Arabic and English in it then it's permissible for Non-Muslims to touch it, because it is not purely the word of Allah swt, rather it is both..therefore not considered the same ruling as for a Mushaf. Wa Allahu 'alam.
Wasalam
