Iran troops 'seize Iraq oil well'

Iranian troops have entered southern Iraqi territory and taken control of an oil well, reports say.

An Iraqi official played down the incident, saying the area was abandoned and right on a disputed border section.

Iranian soldiers crossed the border and raised an Iranian flag over the Fakkah oil field, a US military spokesman told the AFP news agency.

But an Iranian oil company spokesman denied the accusation, saying no troops had taken control of any oil well.

"The company denies Iranian soldiers taking control of any oil well inside Iraqi territory," the National Iranian Oil Company spokesman was quoted as saying by Iranian media.

UK Court issues arrest warrant for Tzipi Livni

Well, it seems an arrest warrant has been issued by a UK court for the arrest of former Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni over alleged war crimes carried out in the Israeli assault on Gaza last year.

Ms Livni has already cancelled a visit to the UK and over the past few months there have been other senior war mongers who had been warned against coming to the UK. Win.

However, it seems some parts of the UK government apparatus was caught off guard, and this arrest warrant may not be around for all too long:

Are you allowed to name someone "Rahman" (or "Allah")?

Something in my mind tells me that I may have read or been taught that the name "Rahman" (and also "Allah") cannot be given to a person etc without a prefix such as "abd" or other...

("abd" meaning "servant of")

... Is this the case?

if so, if you see someone called that name, what are you supposed to do? You can't really go to them and say "you've been named illegitimately" or something, can you?

The questions about Israel topic

Just to keep this separate from other topics.

and can we please keep this clear of:

1. Hyperbole.
2. insinuations and insults.

By this, what I mean is, a person has a right when asked to give his real opinion on a matter without recourse to "revenge" replies - I am more interested in what people think on these issues than the condemnation of those views if others disagree.

I very much doubt this will go according to plan, but I will start a question, something that I have wanted to ask.

Spying on FOUR year olds to fight terrorism?!?

Terror 'grooming' watch on nurseries as police fear children as young as FOUR are being radicalised

Children as young as four are being monitored by terror police who fear they could be brainwashed by Islamic extremists.

Concerns that they could be radicalised has prompted officers to visit nurseries and primary schools, a leaked police memo has revealed.

West Midlands counter-terrorism police e-mailed community groups suggesting children could be targets for terrorist recruiters.

An officer wrote: 'I do hope that you will tell me about persons, of whatever age, you think may have been radicalised or be vulnerable to radicalisation... Evidence suggests that radicalisation can take place from the age of four.'

The *all new* jokes topic

I am sure we had one (or more) before...

There is only one rule: make them funny.

Ok, first one:

A woman gets on a bus with her baby. The bus driver says: “That's the ugliest baby that I've ever seen. Ugh!” The woman goes to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to a man next to her: “The driver just insulted me!”

The man says: “You go right up there and tell him off – go ahead, I'll hold your monkey for you.”

Netanyahu condemns West Bank mosque attack

Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned an attack on a mosque in the occupied West Bank and called for the arrest of those responsible.

Jewish settlers are suspected of launching the attack, burning books and scrawling hate-messages in Hebrew.

The main prayer hall and library of the mosque in the village of Yasuf were badly burnt in the attack on Thursday.

Clashes later broke out between villagers and Israeli troops sent to investigate the incident.

Israeli condemnation

In a statement, Mr Netanyahu "vigorously denounced the aggression against the mosque".

He said he had told security forces "to act with determination to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice".

Other Israeli leaders added their voices to the condemnation.
