Giant Mutant tarantulas invade Bolton!

Well, not giant, or mutant. But chilean tarantulas. and they could take over the country!

Or not, chances are they cannot survive in the UK climate... unless they MUTATE!

Chilean tarantulas menace Bolton

The RSPCA has warned the good burghers of Bolton to keep a sharp eye out for Chilean Rose tarantulas after a couple of the eight-legged critters were spotted in local gardens.

The organisation reckons the two may be from a larger batch of arachnid escapees and, if the Telegraph's headline is to be believed, it could be just a matter of weeks before the entire country is blanketed in a seething mass of alien spiders.

Parenting - does practice make perfect?

ok, there is a discussion on Tribune about "Octomom" (started when I linked to this documentary) and the idea that she is wrong to have so many kids etc etc.

Anyway, the discussion got to wether they kids would be better or worse off than kids in smaller families.

So.. do you think they will not be looked after properly, or would they benefit from having so many siblings?

Secondly, with most things you improve with practice - is this the same with kids? Where you will mess up in the first, mess up less ons econd and maybe by the time you get to number 14 it will be less messed up?

What do you want on this website?

He is a place that people can place requests for this website.

It does not have to be all technical, but more social.

Anyway, I was talking to 'Ed before and mentioned getting someone to do some short lectures for the website initially on the basics of islam.

Maybe 20 minute lectures etc.

He has someone in mind but more details would be needed.

My ideas were:

1. General Q & A section - probably best to have this written and not in multimedia form. This would be separate from the main gist of this topic though.

2. Short audio/video course, initially maybe on the basics of Islam - five pillars plus Jihad seems to be a good base to start, but we will need to provide more details etc.

The deformed children of Fallujah

Fallujah children's 'genetic damage'

and yes, that is part of the effects of the US/UK invasion of Iraq and also the later us led assault on the city.

Effects seems to be worse than in places like Hiroshima after World War 2.

It is thought that American weapons are to blame for the defects, but the people will have no justice and the government of the place will not even acknowledge there is a problem and people are warned away from taking part in surveys or other stuff on the matter.

Disgusting.

The police get away with murder. Literally

Apparently a police officer filmed assaulting a man during the G20 protests - a man who subsequently died - last year has "nothing to answer for".

The CPS used evidence from a doctor who is facing other allegations of misconduct in order to drop any charges against the assaulting police office.

A paid for doctor?

Contrast this with Gaza protesters who were also assaulted by police, but were then charged and convicted for serious crimes and got like 18 month sentences for throwing a plastic bottle.

International Court of Justice to rule today on Kosovo's independence

It will probably not make much difference on the ground, but the ICJ is due to rule at 2pm today on the legality of Kosovo's independence.

Kind of weird because international law is a farce and not really something that exists IMO, but it will be interesting to see what happens.

ex-MI5 chief (finally?) admits that the Iraq war increased terrorism threat to UK

Probably shouldbe from the department of the obvious, but this is also I think the first time anyone involved with government or policy anywhere in the UK has stated it so big news.

I doubt we will be able to get Blair to hang for this - we could do with a good lynching, but he is way too slippery to get caught out by things like facts and the truth.
