Campaign to improve the image of Islam

A campaign has begun in order to improve the image of Islam after a recent poll by YouGov revealed that more than half of British people associate Islam with terrorism and violence.

"Inspired by Muhammad" aims to promote Islam as a peaceful faith, and the positive contribution it has on British society. Posters of Muslims with captions read: "I believe in rights for women... so did Muhammad" will be seen at bus stops, Tube stations and even on London Cabs.

A YouGov poll found that 58% of the British population surveyed associated Islam with extremism, 50% associate it with terrorism and 68% feel the religion encourages the repression of women.

TV presenter and Islam convert Kristiane Backer is one of the many faces of the campaign.

Government names most influential 'pro-Islamic' bloggers

Counter-terrorism research reveals network of pro-Islamic bloggers is smaller and less cohesive than anti-jihadist community

-------------------------------------------------------------

The Home Office's counter-terrorism communications unit has named its top 20 most influential "pro-Islamic" political bloggers.

The list forms part of a mapping exercise carried out on behalf of the Home Office to estimate and track the scale and influence of Islamic bloggers in Britain.

The results of the exercise, which was carried out in 2008 but only published today, show that a network of Islamic bloggers who post on British politics does exist but is still relatively small and draws its information overwhelmingly from mainstream media, mainly the Guardian and the BBC.

Shia Sisters

Shia muslim girls are most lovely and loving wives that a man can find on Earth.

Shia women love God, and His Prophet Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon him and his family.

They have a pure heart full of light and peace.
The mind of Shia muslim sister is clean.
It is not influenced by Kafir TV and Western cultures of immorality and nakedness.

Shia girls makes the best homes for their husband and children.

Ya Ali Madaad.

Islam is not the problem. Muslims are.

Their unwanted backward mentality of not wanting to change and wanting to be stuck in the 7th Century.

No civilised society would want to still whip women because they are rape victims (evident in S.A) no other set of people kill their own because they bring shame on the family (Honor Killings), no other set of people kill each other (like Muslims do) in the Name of MY religion (evident in War - Torn countries) notice how many suicide bombing happen every day? And who the main victims are? No other set of people think that the word "Allah" belongs to them simply because it is Arabic (Malaysia).

It is very easy to blame someone else. Yet Muslims have a problem of not wanting to blame their own (yet some would happily kill their own - irony)

My Daily Ibadah(worship) check!

Weigh your deeds before its too late!

Doesn't time seem to be flying faster and faster by the day?

Indeed, the Prophet(SAW) told us that one of the signs of the Last Day would be that “time would move faster - so that a whole year would pass like a month, a month would pass like a week, a week like a day, a day like an hour, and an hour like the amount of time it takes to kindle a fire.” {Ahmad}

This means we need to ACT now - how long will we put off good deeds till tomorrow deluding ourselves into thinking we can be more "religious" when we get older? How do we know we'll still be alive tomorrow let alone when were older!

Segregation - why?

On Friday, I was asked, why in Islam for certain events, men and women were segregated.

I've grown up used to the idea that segregation existed in Islamic events. So it's kind of become the norm.

But what's the reason for the segregation? Or is the answer the obvious?

Principles are that we shouldn't look at the other sex in that way. So if segregation didn't exist, surely it would be a test of our faith?

Also, daily life involves mixing. Then for a 2 hour Islamic event, you get segregation? Is it pointless?
