sorry, my misunderstanding...i thawt u said they robbed your handbag, wich i thawt u wud hav been carrying with you.

Having the Shaykh staying at our house for 2 hours....it was jus truly amazing! words cant describe, so i got enuff pics for memories! Smile seriously tho, jus being able to serve him and having his presence was a great blessing. This Summer has been the best for a long time, to have learnt so much at Al-Hidyah was great, and now to have actually spent time with him in person.....well, as it goes "a moment with a pious person is equivalent to a 100 years of worship". Just hope its not too far away for his next visit to Manchester!
ur ryt, i cant describe it too well.....but i was amazed by everything about him, just his whole aura.

and i knw this might soound silly.....but when he gave his socks for washing, there was a strong fresh smell of Attar/Ithar coming from it. amazing, our socks would reek.....but his smelt so nice! lol Lol

A family friend of mine visited Pakistan this summer. He’s a qualified doctor, recently got married and visited Pakistan in order work in a hospital.

He went out one night and never returned home for four days, meanwhile his parents here were stressing.

Today it was revealed that he was arrested on orders of Musharaf because he was a foreigner from UK…they assumed that he was there to study in their Madrassers…and apparently no international students can study in their schools.

They can’t get it through their thick heads that he wasn’t even there to study…the boy has no interest in Islam.

His parents flew out today to Pakistan to see if they can get him out of prison.

So far, it’s only been innocents who have suffered in this so called war against terror.

lol something like Christians and Muslims?

kinda- sorta... my uncles tell me that they used to have gang fueds with them in their town-in the 70's

they hated one another-massive kick offs used to happen

in school if a sikh boy wantd to wind up the Muslims he'd date a Muslim girl

and vice versa

amongst the girls there's just snideness and bitchness in school

I know my sister had problems with sikh girls in college-she was the only Muslim-they were very bitchy/racist

my driving instructor is a sikh lady-she's nice

I know that they receive islamaphobic attacks cos people often mistake them for muslims

"MuslimSisLilSis" wrote:

lol now that is ironic isn't it?

I can really only tell a sikh apart by the sword, otherwise I always confuse them for muslims or hindus (hindus cuz of the turban).

They are really touchy about those swords too...

"Dave" wrote:

Apparently, if they take the sword out then they have to spill blood.

people should realise that the only thing Muslim and sikh men have in common is the beard

most muslim men unlike Sikh men DONT wear turbuns

(I've only seen OBL wear one)

lol no I said I confuse sikhs with hindus because of the turbans, the beards throw me off for muslims.

Muslims where I am from if they are wearing anything outside the norm are probably wearing dashikis, kufis, or both

There is a pretty funny picture of me from high school wearing my friend's kufi and dashiki.

I was just going off the small war that erupts when you politely ask them not to bring their swords into government buildings.

In the words of the mighty Guru Ang Ri "Kah-Boom"

coz of a previous thread 'an inspirational story' about the woman who converted to Islam, and the questions raised about the story....and the topic here, i contacted a friend of mine who was a sikh but now has conevrted to Islam about just over a year ago.....here is the main points from the conversation....sum interesting stuff comes up.....

D.W.D says: "Yeah there's a sort vein in the religous community, The guru's are a big part of the sikh faith and so some of them being killed by the mongols is very big stuff. so much so that the sikh youth are constantly told how the muslims slaughtered our holy people (no lie). And there is a sort of undercurrent of dormant rage/hatred sikhs feel for muslims because of that. 2 years ago my mate (a sikh) told me how some local muslim imaams had made postal da'wa to a lot of the sikh community (sounds funny I know). anyways he said because of that a lot of them were going to get their swords and "meet" some muslims in town. He was really angry about that and yet he has loads of muslim friends

www.therevival.co.uk - the voice of the muslim youth says:
so they safe between each other nowadayz?

D.W.D says: its like there are whites and asians in our school. no diffrentiations between muslims and sikhs yet he still got angry about that thing but yeah hes safe with muslims. thats the topic of muslim hatred covered

www.therevival.co.uk - the voice of the muslim youth says:
u reckon that story is true? (EDIT: see inspirational story thread) the other posters dont

D.VV.D says:
true honestly I see no forgery, but there are things i would have disagreed with, having been a sikh. There are things as a sikh i would have disagreed with that she says. but she says that that stuff is in the granth saib and if it is i'm surprised.

www.therevival.co.uk - the voice of the muslim youth says:
so all her claims arent tru? the gora, hes studied it a bit and its not that bad as she made it out 2 be. is she just saying that out of hatred for it? i.e biased

D.VV.D says:
There are two main parts:
1./ Divinity of the gurus
2./ The sheer amount of 'filth'

On the first part, my aqeedah as a sikh was that the guru Nanak (the first guru) was a deep contemplative, always meditating on Allah with miracles testifying his closeness to god. However the granth saib does say alot of hindu stuff like bad souls are punished by being distanced from god and never knowing the bliss of allah's closeness. whilst good souls may be united with the creator

www.therevival.co.uk - the voice of the muslim youth says:
he was a muslim? ive heard that b4 but didnt knw coz i havnt researched em properly

D.VV.D says:
as far as I know he was neither hindu nor sikh but history is only so reliable as the recorders of it. by the way, the jaap ji saab (the seek morning prayer) says this

Ik onkar - There is only one god
Satnaam- His name is true
(the third line)- he is the creator

www.therevival.co.uk - the voice of the muslim youth says:
sounds like Al-Fatiha

D.VV.D says:(4th line) he neither dies nor was he born
it goes on to say he feels no fear nor tires. And that he is eternal. Yes thats what got me, its like ayat ul kursi, ikhlaaas and fatiha

about the divine aspect it was preached that the gurus were guiders. Guru literally means into the light but the granth saib says stuff that praises allah's closeness like sufi literature does, however I can't think of any claims that the gurus were gods. maybe her parents were cloudy on that aspect (EDIT: again, the story in other thread)

about the 'filth' business, it sounds like tibetanism and hinduism

When I was being pressured by my mother to convert to islaam as a backlash i dug deeper into sikhism and was amazed at the wealth of poetic praise of allah in the granth saib

www.therevival.co.uk - the voice of the muslim youth says:
from now on, you shall refer to me as super ted, or ted, and i call you spotty....agreed? (EDIT: left that in, i thought it was funny )

D.W.D says: the filth business, well I haven't read the geeta but the hindu texts contain some of that like the karma sutra is some sex manual. i haven't read the geeta but the hindu scriptures do contain some sex manuals. And the taoist alchemists (japanese religion) have some stuff that westeners like crowley refer to as sex magic. It could have influenced either the sikh religion or the sikh practioners. anyways so thats where the filth influences could have come from.

and thats pretty much it, so I only really disagree with her saying sikhs say the gurus are god otherwise it checks out

Don't really know where to post this question...

Basically, the blessed month of Ramadan is arriving and obviously i want to take advantage of the month to the fullest.

I've heard many lectures and have read many books on the virtues and blessings of this month.

There are a lot of things in my life that i am asking Allah (swt) for and i am looking forward to Ramadan so that I can pray extra nafls in order for my duas to be accepted.

What I wanted to ask is that is it ok for me to make a vow to either finish the quran with translation or to read X amout of nafl prayers etc in order for Allah (swt) to answer my prayers.

I've always done so in the past, whenever i want something quite much, i pray to Allah for it and i also carry out some form of good deeda such as Sadaqah, nafl prayers etc but until recently someone told me that I shouldn't do that.

According to them, this is a form of bribery and that I should be carrying out good deeds anyway and shouldn't really be expecting anything back in return.

I understand her point which i why I'm asking for some clarification on the matter.

Thanks.

hey hyper....i asked a sikh as well about that story...didnt actually show him the whole ting, he may of been offended...most ppl dont like their faith being mocked and abused...

muslims v sikhs....guess its historical...like why irish hate english..

sikhs ive spoken too point out that some muslim tyrants kings in india mistreated the sikhs for a long time...percecuted them, as the jews in europe where persecuted...

one sikh guru was murdered by a muslim ruler for refusing to convert to islam...maybe thats why sikhs r sensitve about conversion stories...

anyway...from wot i heard, this girl is wrong on 2 counts....

1.. the sikhs do not believe the gurus are god...

2...sikhs belive that all relgions are a path to god...all religions teach the same basic principles...all are from the allmighty...sikhs dont hate islam...

those are pretty important points...so lets not slander the sikh religion any more...

that story was just a bitter rant against the sikh ppl...no need for that...she can belive wot she wants, but why pure such scorn on the beliefs of others?

You raised such an interesting point.

I’m like that too, when something is stressing or bothering me, the dua’s increase in intensity, nafls increase and Sadqa comes out…

I can’t stand them people who usually ignore me or don’t want to know me…but when they need something or want me to do something they contact me….yet I’m guilty of the very trait that I dislike in others.

I wouldn’t say that its “wrong” to increase you’re Ibadah when you need something…. Allah (swt) has said that we should “seek help via Sabr and Salaah”…and if you don’t ask Him (swt) who can you ask?

But one should always remember that, if you remember Him (swt) when things are all good he’ll definitely remember you when you’re stressed or in trouble.

Porgy, i never said anything...jus a convo between me and a former-sikh. anyway, i found it interesting that some of their holy scriptures sound exactly like verses from the Holy Quran

He is free, he is mad,

Sorry to hear your family's tragedy.

It is devestating for loved ones when their son or husband does not return home.

I pray that he will be released and compensated for all the trouble he and his parents went through.

It is never right to arrest an innnocent person.

Omrow

anyone noticed how there's three age groups in the revival?

the "younger lot" aged 17-19 which consists of people such as the Muslim Kuri's, them three sisters from up north, me, chm1, Hayder

then the "middle aged lot" aged 20-21 which consists of people such as Seraph, Garfield, my sister, angel, Dave, yash, Fred, Asiya etc

and then the "older lot" which consists of the grandfathers such as Mr Admin, Mr Ed and the omro
