@ You i need your help. When the computer loads up it stays for a long time after the windows xp screen and then again after the welcome screen. I have ran all spyware, adware, malware, virus stuff but nothing has worked. I have checked msconfig and removed all unnecessary programs from startup only leaving about 4 needed ones. I have also ran registry cleaners and done disk defragment and removed some large games. Apart from system restore what other options could i try?
Is this a new symptom? how long are the pauses? do you have any programs in startup?
what a/v are you using? what antispyware did you try? What firewall?
Need more specifics.
If it is just that the PC is too slow and not a virus or anything, you can try try run >> services.msc and turn off/change to manual what you don't need - but be careful, turning off the wrong things can affect stability of the PC along with usability.
Turn off any telnet services, any remote activation stuff, netbios etc etc. If in doubt google the service.

Just started last week pauses are about 2-3 mins each. Startup items are nero check, virtual drive mount and mouse software. Anti virus is Avast!, spyware remover is spybot search and destroy, Avast! is also firewall and registry mechanic is registry thing.
Have you defragged the drive recently? if not, try that too.
(afaik, Nero does not need to be a startup item. get rid and start it manually when you need it - I doubt burning disks is an activity done every day.)

try a checking the disk for errors: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265 - it could be a couple of slightly damaged files.

anyone know of any free texting websites that work.
http://www.o2.co.uk/login?dest=http://sendtxt.o2.co.uk/sendtxt/action/co...
you have to sign up (10 text messages free per month), and you don't have to be on the 02 network to do so.
I always use this one for some reason.
