i have put in a bid on a kiddy t shirt. But anyone know how I can avoid being outdidded??

Use eSnipe, which places your bid on e-bay automatically in the final few seconds.

oh this sound good!!

how much does it cost?

live and let live!!!!!!!

Well, if you bid on the last minute its free, but if you use the sniping site Honey has mentioned then there are small fees to pay although there are other free sniping sites out there.

I myself don't use sniping sites, but I used to and stopped using it as I found out the connection between ebay and the sniping site isn't encrypted when they bid for you. I am very cautious when it comes to security.

A lot of people use eSnipe, it's pretty reliable. It is free for the first 14 days. After the trial period, eSnipe only charges if you win an auction.

My internet security (norton) expired yesterday, so as I had so much junk in my pc, I decided to reboot (fresh install of xp).

So I backed all the important files and programs up before starting. So after rebooting and all that I noticed that one of my hard drives was missing from 'My Computer'. My C: drive where xp is installed is 160GB, but my other hard drive (40GB) doesn't show. I checked 'Device Manager' and it's showing there. So do I need to change something in 'BIOS' or did I do something wrong when installing xp? I remember being asked where to install xp and I chose the hard drive with 160GB, and it did mention something about partitioning but they're two separate hard drives anyway.

I'm normally very critical of 'free' software's which most people pay for. But as I needed to have some sort of security when coming online, I was forced to use AVG's Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware and ZoneAlarm's firewall. It's working properly but it's not giving me the full protection so I've just ordered AVG Internet Security 7.5 with a 2 year license. The interface looks really basic, it looks like a program from windows 98, but as long as it does the job its fine. It's quite cheap compared to what norton and mcafee charge though.

dunno about the hard disk problem, but for anti virus use either avira antivir or Avast! 4 home.

Both are legally free for home us, and better than AVG.
Avira is faster (than even AVG), but Avast has more features. Your choice depending on your needs.

Avast! does have mandatory registration though. You must register to recieve updates. Avira will throw a popup at update time asking you to "upgrade" to the pro version.

I have too much antivirus software, it gets in the way. AVG, AVG antispyware and Windows Defender are the ones that annoy me. I also have SpywareBlaster, Spybot, AdAware and RemoveIT in case something odd happens. I'm gonna remove Defender and maybe replace AVG with one of Admin's suggestions. Do Avira and Avast! update without my needing to pay?

Jazakallah

Bliss,

Mt. Sinai is where the 10 commandments were given. Since I know of Jewish girls who have been there I'm sure you can, but there is a security alert for tourists at the moment, for another month (until after Pesach).

yup, totally free.

Windows is supposedly crap. Failed antivirus test by such a margin it came out unrated.

If your pc is resource limited, use Avira. But it does not scan emails if I remember correctly, so if you use a desktop email client such as thunderbird, Outlook, eudora etc, then go for Avast!4home.

Avast does have this annoying habit of speaking, so if you keep your speakers on, it can get a little annoying.

'YOUR VIRUS DATABASE HAS BEEN UPDATED' in the middle of the night, with my speakers on full.

(I had watched a film earlier...)

You're welcome Bliss.

Thanks Admin. I will try Avira because that Avast thing does sound annoying. I've used Avast before and uninstalled it for some reason. (I think I have Thunderbird protected but I'll check. btw Firefox has been crashing on me lately and none of my software can suggest a reason. Also my entire Win32 folder is showing as empty. That might be down to some foolish registry change I made. Maybe Avira will find something.)

My Windows Defender won't update and I tired of the workarounds Microsoft suggested.

oooo Mount Sinai is AMAZING!! I climbed it in May last year, I would recommend it to anybody. I'm sure theres no problem with sisters climbing it. There are bedouin guides who take you up there but you might not wanna go on your own. Its really really amazing though!

I climbed during the night and got to the top in time for fajr then watched the most beautiful sunrise I have ever seen. There were shooting stars and everything!

It only takes 2 hours or so from Saint Catherine's Monastry where the cars stop, and its not a difficult climb. You can take a camel up there if your feeling lazy. It gets very cold during the night, even during summer, so bring plenty of layers.

Climbing Mount Sinai was one of the highlights of my 2006!

Don't just do something! Stand there.

I've already ordered AVG Internet Security so got to use it for another 2 years. I visited the website owned by AV Comparatives, who test anti-virus software's and yes, Microsoft did fail the test they conducted last month.

Honey, why do you have so many anti-virus/spyware programs for? Do you use all of them at the same time or only keep one on? Btw why won't Windows Defender update....you got a pirate copy by any chance :D. With your problem of Firefox crashing, have you tried re-installing Firefox?

Admin, I think it's really cool the feature Avast has, you don't get many internet security software's talking to you. I might install Avast just to listen to it lol.

I don't know why Defender won't update, it is wierd. The problem isn't my Windows, which is authentic. I did have a very annoying problem at one time, that might have been my fault for trying to speed up the registry, of vital boot files being supposedly missing, and I couldn't even get to Safe Mode, so I had to install a fix for that, which still affects starting up. I don't know if that episode has anything to do with anything else though. Firefox crashing might be to do with bugs in the latest updates or possibly with some of the add-ons (I have add-ons for football scores, several for download streams and de-embedding, a couple for quick access to my preferred websites, previewing, spell-checking, safety ratings, mouse gestures, error pages, basically you name it, I downloaded it).

I have SpyBot and AdAware because I always have, although I hardly ever run them now, and it is only the more recent versions of SpyBot that are a bit intrusive but it is probably useful how it asks for permission when software wants to make system changes. I could switch that feature off if I wanted. I have SpywareBaster because SpyBot recommended it and RemoveIt because it occasionally detects a rogue dll that other programs don't find, and that's OK because it only runs manually. The main issues I was having were with Defender and AVG forever getting in the way and slowing me down, so I have uninstalled them and installed Avira AntiVirus, which seems pretty good.

It doesn't give me too much trouble but for peace of mind I will probably just backup and start again.

I'm all about feng shui, see. Lol

I also use Firefox (admin told me about it, thanks!) and the latest version is 2.0.0.2. I'm not having any problems although I have only one add-on; the dictionary which checks spelling. As Firefox has been updated, the add-ons need to keep up and be updated aswell, and some add-ons might not be compatible with the latest version of Firefox. You can try disabling all your add-ons and see if Firefox crashes then.

There is one anti-spyware software, might be the one you use which is a bit aggressive when detecting spyware and it relies on you to know if the file really is spyware before deleting it. So you can delete an important windows file without knowing it because you might have assumed it to be spyware.

I've flown in a couple of those old Fokkers, I really don't like them. One time I was delayed for hours because a couple of people had shifted seats and they were that worried about the weight distribution, and then for the same reason they unloaded and reloaded all the baggage. Planes like that shouldn't be in service.

Yeah BA tend to cancel flights when 'ther arent enough passengers' but what really happens is that they sell them to people who need them and pay more
