Student Loans Are a Tax?

Zabdullah —

Could it be that the Student Loans are in reality a graduate tax and not really a loan.

They seem to me like income tax which is a progressive form of tax -- the more you earn the more you will pay. Low income earners will not pay anything and after 30 years there will be nothing to pay.

If tomorrow the Goverment change the name and call this a graduate tax and not loan -- the reality may stay the same but everyone will then say that Degrees are now Halal.

Sunni prisoners facing execution in Iran

Hummus —

There are a total of 26 Sunni prisoners who are due to be executed for openly propagating their faith. The execution date for four of these prisoners is this Saturday, the 21st of September, 2013.

The International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran (ICHRI) reported that some prisoners, like Kaveh Vaisi and Pourya Mohammadi, were forced to make televised false confessions after the safety of their families was threatened. They also reported that many of the prisoners were severely tortured upon arrest. In November 2012 ten Sunni prisoners faced trial, and, in a court case that lasted only ten minutes, were all sentenced to death. Reports from the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) and testimonies from the prisoners expose the shocking level of mistreatment suffered by these prisoners. In their court appearance they were blindfolded, handcuffed and shackled at the ankles. They were given electric shocks by Iranian Intelligence officials, and the attorney that was assigned to defend them was also threatened to remain silent. Six of the ten prisoners were executed in December 2012. Four prisoners now face imminent execution, they are:

-Jamshed Dehghani
-Jahangir Dehghani
-Hamed Ahmadi
-Kamal Malaie

The remaining Sunni prisoners on death row in Iran are likely to be executed soon. We ask all Muslims to raise their voices in support of their Muslim brothers and sisters and to support this call for the release of the hostages and to stop the execution of innocent Muslims.

SIGN THE PETITION. We do not know what benefit it will have signing this, but we know that when we will be asked by Allah what did we do, at least we can say , we did something whilst our brothers are facing death...if our intention is correct, Allah can make anything possible. Alhamdulillah.

A Nigerian woman has been crowned Miss World Muslimah 2013.

Obabiyi Aishah Ajibola was awarded the accolade at the third annual event in Jakarta, Indonesia.

"We're just trying to show the world that Islam is beautiful," the 21-year-old told Agence France-Press on Wednesday.

"It was not really about competition," she added.

Ajibola, who wept and dropped to her knees while reciting verses from the Quran, was awarded with prize money of £1,365 and trips to Mecca and India.

The annual pageant, held exclusively for Muslim women, assesses not only the appearance of contestants, but also their piety and religious knowledge.

Qurbani is what is termed Wajib (obligatory) on a person who conforms completely to the requirements prescribed in the Islamic law for which he is suitable or in the basic sense of the word ELIGIBLE to perform qurbani to please ALLAH.

Muslims who live in far flung areas i.e. in places or in countries where they are either not facilitated with a place to perform animal slaughter at such an auspicious event as Eid-ul-Adha, or they are forbidden by the authorities of that region not to practice their Islamic ritual peacefully, in both the cases online qurbani has eased away all the troubles and turbulent times that our Muslim brothers had to face. PakQurbani has taken the initiative well on time when Eid is near at its arrival and people are looking for their qurbani animal as to slaughter the best animal for the sake of ALLAH. Muslim students banned from wearing veils at college

Hummus —

Angry Muslim students have hit out at college chiefs after being banned from wearing religious veils for “security” reasons.

All students, staff and visitors to Birmingham Metropolitan College have been told to remove any face coverings so individuals are “easily identifiable at all times”. But the controversial ban of the niqab – a veil that leaves only a slot for the eyes – has sparked fury among some Muslim girls, who say they are being discriminated against.

The policy was revealed just days after politicians discussed banning the burka. Kettering MP Philip Hollobone – who refuses to see constituents who will not lift their veils – raised the issue in a Private Member’s Bill, saying it “goes against the basic part of the British way of life”.

News of the policy at the Birmingham college was broken to one prospective Muslim student at the start of the new term last week. The angry 17-year-old girl, who did not want to be named, said:

“It’s disgusting. It is a personal choice and I find it absolutely shocking that this has been brought in at a college in Birmingham city centre when the city is so multicultural and so many of the students are Muslim. It upsets me that we are being discriminated against. I don’t think my niqab prevents me from studying or communicating with anyone – I’ve never had any problems in the city before.”
