How Do You Re-charge YOUR Batteries?
Salaam
You know how sometimes a person feels spiritually low and far from Allah (swt).
Sometimes one lacks that high level of trust (tawakul) in Allah (swt) that they normally have…..dua’s decrease in intensity and the heart and soul become absent in prayer….
Sometimes the taunts and anti Islamic comments of people around them are taken to heart…sometimes one does not feel as Islamically at peace…..sometimes Islamic work becomes a struggle…..and ones spiritually batteries just feel low.
The Night Journey
Salaam
It was during this blessed month that the Holy Prophet
travelled from Mecca to Jerusalem on a heavenly animal called Bur’aq.
He then ascended to heaven with angel Gabriel, met the other Prophets, led prayer and met the angels. He was shown heaven and hell and more importantly saw and met Allah (swt).
The Holy Prophet
conversed directly with Allah (swt).
Jean Charles de Menezes
Salam
I would like to dedicate this thread to a good Catholic boy who is no longer with us.
My thoughts and prayers are with his parents and family.
Jean Charles de Menezes was a 28 year old boy from Brazil living in London on Scotia Road.
On 21 July 2005 the undercover police officers wrongly identified him as a potential terrorist.
He was apprehended by the London police officers.
He did not resist arrest.
The police then shot him with eight bullets in his face.

Reviving Seraph's famed thread. All props to Seraph.
Just finished up reading a bunch of interesting stuff:
The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova - It's like the Da Vinci Code and Dracula mixed, really interesting read great suspense and lots of historical background on an area of the world I don't know much about - the balkans.
Any one of the Princess books by Jean Sasson (well actually by Princess Sultana) - Lilsis recommendation to me a while back, absolutely amazing books about the suicidal decadence of the Saudi Royal Princes.
and in that vein
My Forbidden Face by "Latifah" a fascinating look at life under the Taliban, but also a very informative look at life in Afghanistan over the last 30 years.

An Open Letter to David Davis MP
David Davis MP said that Britain’s traditional policy of multiculturalism is now “outdatedâ€. Gerald Howarth MP is of the opinion that Muslim should leave this country. The owner of local radio station, broadcasting in Copenhagen suggests killing Muslims in order to combat terrorism.
Security or Freedom?
This is a pretty common debate in the U.S. at the moment. We have always recognized a need to sacrifice some freedoms for the security of the nation during times of war - this is common to every civilization on the planet. This is even more pointed now that we are fighting an enemy we really cannot see. Americans - and foreigners of all nationality are now subject to greater scrutiny at airports and other sensitive areas, and the strange case of American's caught engaging in acts of terrorism or fighting against the United States has led to their denial of access to the courts. Few people argue that these are not germane to national security, and certainly these reforms are popular, but the question is how far is too far if we still want to remain a liberal democracy.
ISLAMOPHOBIA!
Assallamu Allaikum
Some info on Islamophobia...share your views pls...
Islamophobia
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Islamophobia is a neologism used to refer to an irrational fear or prejudice towards Muslims and the religion of Islam. [1][2]
Definitions
Authors who attempt to describe the term more specifically view it as a new form of racial prejudice whereby Muslims, an ethno-religious group, not a race, are nevertheless constructed as a race.[3][4][5]. According to them, a set of negative assumptions are made of the entire group to the detriment of members of that group.
