I just discovered the COOLEST thing EVER!

If I click the little rolly thing in the middle of my mouse and then simply move my mouse up or down - it will automatically scroll me in that direction.

And there is like a little anchor thing wherever I clicked.

You can speed it up and slow it down depending on how fast you moved the mouse!!!!

Hey how did your sister's interview go?

that was the most off-topic post ever! Blum 3

Really?! I've posted Captain and Tenille love song lyrics to Tex on his threads before.

Surely that was more off topic!

I have no idea! But i'm so happy I found it - this is awesome!! It's like a game! i've scrolled the general topic area several times now and it's more exciting every time!

Make sure you have lunch ready!? Are you cinderella or something?

Not even a please!

I'm glad it went well for her though! - Is this through that placement agency still?

...the one that paradropped her in the hood to fend for herself

she always say that on txt-she a Madam

but I never have food ready for her-

The ONLY serving I do for her is-is give her milk when she asks sumtimes

I told her to bring herself and me home a take away

I know her interview went OK-she's just a stress head

this interview is for her one year teaching traning course-so that she can be a qualified teacher

she's still doing agency work atm though

Yikes she's really jumping head first into a career. I'm sure she did great though, really only a matter of time.

Somebody needs to choose the nickname "E.T."

This can be their avatar:

Their location can be Earth

Can you believe the little girl in that picture turned into that gigantic slob Drew Barrymore?

lol I did a long time ago - I spent 3 days chilling (literally) on a very cold beach, almost capsized rowing, and went to a function for my parents before I came back here.

Here is school.

Daily Show!

Damn it I forgot you watch that show!

I need to start copying jokes from the Colbert Report...

Hey are they showing the DS regularly now in the UK?

Dare I incur the Newbie’s wrath and start babbling on about myself again? Yeah, why not…

Thanks for asking and caring guys …the interview went great….I was so scared, felt nauseous and nervous and just wanted it over with.

Sat the English test….I had to write an essay about why I wanted to be a teacher and identify any constraints/limitations fears etc…what a great question….I wrote so much that my hand ached…I passed that easily….I had only two spelling mistakes

Then I sat the maths test…man was that hard. I’m so thick when it comes to maths…I got about 55% on that…thankfully the interviewer told me that me that my place on the course is not dependent on my maths results….if anything, I might just have to take some extra maths lessons when the course starts.

Then I had to give a short presentation…basically I had to present to the interviewer a session I planned for a class of 7year olds….I passed that too.

Then I sat the interview….she asked me “why should we choose you- what do you have to offer to the world of teaching?”….my mind went blank. I have ALWAYS tripped up over this question in the past…I am SO rubbish at selling myself….she probed me and said “Any experience?”…Thank God I had plenty of that…so I started to talk about all the teaching experience I have…

She asked me about work/time management and how I cope under pressure (I told her about the amount of stuff I have on my plate at the moment and how I work well under pressure) ….she asked me why I wanted to be a teacher (I had a LOT to say on that)….she asked a lot of questions about my agency work….she was impressed with that since all they ask is for a minimum of two days spent in a primary school….I had a lot more then that.

I was honest and genuine….I didn’t exaggerate/lie or big myself up.

I’ll find out within three weeks if I’m offered a place. I badly hope I get in…this is my dream.

….I’m just glad that I’ve got that out the way now….I mentally feel a lot lighter now.

'Katrina: the Tour' hits New Orleans

By Danielle Demetriou

Famous for its Mardi Gras festivities, vibrant French Quarter and spicy Cajun cuisine, New Orleans now has a more macabre tourist attraction - a Hurricane Katrina disaster tour.

The initiative, launched this week, is a commercial effort to showcase the devastation caused in August last year.

Entitled "The Hurricane Katrina Tour: America's Worst Catastrophe!", it was launched on Wednesday by Grayline Tours to help attract tourists back to New Orleans.

The bus tour takes visitors on a three-hour journey around a number of flooded neighbourhoods, including Lakeview. Other landmarks to be visited include the Superdome stadium where thousands of evacuees were housed for days in appalling conditions.

The history of the Mississippi river, the levee system and the region's oil and gas industries are to be discussed during the tour, but tourists will not be allowed off the bus to take photographs in the neighbourhoods visited.
Critics have claimed that the tour is an insensitive means of exploiting a disaster, but Gregory Hoffman, general manager of Grayline New Orleans, defended his decision to launch it.

Mr Hoffman, who was among those who lost their homes in the flooding, said: "People around the country don't understand it until they see it first hand. We're going to walk them through what we as locals experienced leading up to and following the hurricane."

The tour costs $35 (£20) for adults and $29 (£16) for children. For every ticket bought, $3 (£1.70) is donated to non-profit Hurricane Katrina relief groups.

Imam Nawawi in his Fatawa was asked:

"Is there harm for one's religion and his salat if he dresses other than in the fashion of Muslims?" He answered: "It is forbidden to resemble the disbelievers in appearance, whether in clothing or otherwise, because of the sound and well-known hadiths concerning this; and wearing such clothing makes one's prayer incomplete tanqusu bihi al-salat." Quote:
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth,
The parable of His Light is as if there were a niche,
And within it a Lamp: The Lamp enclosed in Glass;
The glass as it were a brilliant star;
Lit from a blessed Tree,
An Olive, neither of the East nor of the West,
Whose oil is well-nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it;
Light upon Light!
Allah doth set forth parables for men: and Allah doth know all things.

surah 24:35 Al Nur (The Light)

SubhanALLAH. This verse is beautiful.

I absolutely love this verse.

This verse is truly amazing and when reciting it in arabic what can be said of the sweetness of this? Make dua that ALLAH ta'ala favours me and you with a deep understanding of this aayah, cos alhamdulillah I have read, heard and studied a number of commentaries on this one aayah and every time it does something to my heart.

I believe a number of works are dedicated to this one verse. Would love to study those one day inshaALLAH.

Yikes that sounds like a mental marathon. Two tests and an interview...

Glad it went well for you though! If you were honest and genuine and told them what you were looking for i'm sure you will be fine. Dedication and experience are the big two for any job interview and you definitely from the sounds of it nailed the experience category, and you really prepared for this so you obviously want it!

So... Cheers!

Sick and tests!? No bloody good!

But if i'm not correct your tests are sorta midway/almost done right now right?

So you just have to hold out a little while longer.

You need clam chowder! - and some sort of white fish.

That keeps throats from not being sore and in this weather will rally you for tomorrow.

I'm okay... kinda bored - I scheduled an off day today to work on my huge paper but I haven't done anything yet.

Normal routine though... got up, worked out, ran, had a shower, ate breakfast and read for a bit and now here I am glued to my computer!

I'm learning how to play the violin (again) so I was thinking of practicing...
