well wat can i say it was the first time i have been to a camp of the sort and i must say i enjoyed myself completely!! unfortunately my younger sister was unable to join me and was really dissapointed and wat made it worse for her was that i actually came back and talked lots and lots about it. o well Inshallah were all praying that we have a bigger camp next year Inshallah. D
i imensly benefited from the camp and have come back a better muslim and Inshallah when and if i get to go next year ill cum back a even better 1. it has encouraged me to get more involved and active within my muslim community (and if ne1 was at Dr Zakir Naiks talk on Islam and terror he was saying a good way to remove this threat away from islam is to become active and get involved.) And i would actually like to thank asiya_a who really encouraged me to go on the trip by talking about her last trip the glasgow 1.Ta aaaasiya xxx. chat to u later

Lol-you poor thing.

I'm in the same position as you.

But this time I've made my resolve to just book a place, pay my money and go...

I don't like behaving like a spolit teenager, but in certain situations I think this behaivour is justified.

Well saying is easy but actually taking the step it isnt.

When i heard bout the Al-Hidayah camp i prayed n prayed 4 months every single day after every single namaz i kept on praying.

When i gave my application form in n the money i still hadnt asked my permission but kept on praying. Finally when the time came near and there was 3 weeks left i told them i was going to a spiritual camp but didnt mention Qibla Muhtram name as i really knew what the answer was going to be.

Well the only reason i got the chance to go was because my mum agreed after a little while as my dad was abroad n still is.

All i do now is thank Allah (swt) n his beloved rasul Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam (Peace and Blessings be upon him) 4 givin me this great chance. But it looks like now ill have to start again for next years camp coz i know my dad will be around....im just really worried Sad

Sad

Wow, thats what I did for the Glasgow camp.

Dad said No that time too but in the end he said yes cos I was moping around the house, not hiding the fact that his refusal upset me....

I didnt do that this time....I didnt pray as hard and dropped the subject as soon as Dad said No once.

Praying very hard and pestering parents non-stop does work in the end.

But cos I'm a girl who dislikes perstering people...this is very hard for me.

salaam

why would any parent say NO to going to a youth camp?

cos they dont want u away from the house
or that they dont trust you
or that they dont think women should go to islamic events
or that its too far
or they dont like the organisation?

wasalaam

our dads over protective

been like that since we were babies-he's like that with the girls and boys in the family

he dislikes things that are far away-he dislikes over night stuff and dislikes late night stuff

I think he has an over protectiveness disorder

whenever me and sis travel in coaches to Manchester/B'ham etc he rings us non stop all the way thru-it does our head in

it aint cos of lack of trust-we've never betrayed his trust

he's always convinced that sumin's gonna happen to his babies

Asalamualaikum!

I think all those points that u pointed out r true with my family n relatives even though i hav never betrayed them n the only place i alwayz want to go is to my mosque.

But id hav to point out the exremist one is that they dont like the organization n that they dont think women should attend islamic events.

I wish they'd listen brother.

I've tried really hard so far n keep tryin but they dont seem to listen. You know how sum pple r ...they wnt listen 2 me coz they'll say im small wat do i no even when i giv them a hadith, they'll say how do i no ur tellin the truth n when i giv them the answer the conversation becums n argument.

so....... Sad wat can i say

"Duniya toh badalti rehti hai...Ey mere Quaid tuh kabhi Na badal janaa"

dont worry or stress yourself. inshallah in good time they will loook back and realise. and even if they dont, u tried ur best.

with no disrespect to your parents in any way shape or form, some people are like that - narrow minded i guess, not very open to bieng told from others or respecting their views.

ur still in my dua's sister and Inshallah i hope you're at the next camp, and so am i!

probably gona hav 2 pay mysef this tym! Lol

How much would you guys pay for a camp?...Whats the standard limit? How much do most three day camps cost these days?

none of the above, if parents can let their daughters go on school trips etc then they should have no problem with islamic events, with programmes where it involves shaykh uk islam most of my family/relatives attend as we have known shaykh ul islam for over 15 yrs... to tell u the truth i dont have any real interest to attend other events esp. if its down south. the only thing i would probs go to is a nasheed concert.

permision of studin in pak is an issue with all parents lucky for me my sis crossed that hurdle so i have no problem, but even so my mum would be 100% for it and truthfully i probs would have gone without dad's permision (i knw u shud have parents blessings and all but when its a chance like this and is encouraged in islam then it cant be missed)

"MuslimSister" wrote:

I think it depends if a person is workin, this camp cost me £70 and when you see the accomodation and the length then it was defnitley worth it but if it has shaykh ul islam then i wont mind paying more....camp price really depends on venue and lenght of camp.

"angel" wrote:

In many cases those parents who have issues with stuff like Islamic camps have also had issues with school holiday trips such as a week in Spain etc.

For that price I might attend such a camp in the near future. You guys have made it sound so wonderful. Biggrin

Probably going to have to convince my parents.

Yeh you should i knw u wont be disapointed one bit!! This time it was only 300 ppl (loads of ppl didnt get in due to lack of places) and like baji khatija said they aimin for 500 inshallah, i am gona make sure i book my place well in advance..

I wonder where they gona have the nxt camp, i am gona start looking for venue places in glasgow, it would be good to have it here again but i bet loads of ppl gona complain it to far but it will be worth it!

hmm just heard dad talkin bout the manchesta event looks like he is gona come wohoo

p.s. do u 2 need permision? i consider myself lucky i dont need to get permision for these things .

luckily neither do i, minhajian family lol.

if i must be really honest, i was partially forced to go camp in the sense they said i shud go an dthey wud be upset if i didnt, and i lukd at the leaflet and thawt 'why not, luks half decent'.

totally changed my mind now, inshallah im gona be at any camp possible!

how come u payed 70? i thawt its 99 if u over 18? i dunno wat i told em, but i payed 70 as well Lol

nah this tym tho, i'd pay more (and outta my owm pocket), coz its worth it. worth more than a flight to homeland!

"MuslimSister" wrote:

Well i remember payin the full amount (£100) for the last camp (Al-Hidayah) even though i waz 17 at that time but i waz on a training course.

Being honest with myself i wouldnt mind paying that amount again as it is really worth it......all i probably hav 2 do is pray really hard i get my permission...n cut dwn a little on spending Wink

"Duniya toh badalti rehti hai...Ey mere Quaid tuh kabhi Na badal janaa"

salaams,
next years camp will be for 4 days- 3 nights & 1 day, InshaAllah. 500 youth. Venue InshaAllah will be more spectacular so therefore the costs will be higher as you can imagine it will be difficult to accomadate 500 people for 4 days in suitale and beautiful surroundings.

We think the venue is realy important-Last year I took the kids to a wahabbi 'activity' camp and we stayed in a tent for 4days ..That was realy expensive and all I gained was a stone lighter in weight after chasing my son through the open feilds and back ache.
I dont reccomend it! It was like an army 'boot camp'

Walaikumsalam!

Mash'Allah! Biggrin 4 dayz

Indeed the venue is important especially if its going 2 b 4 dayz. I just hpe its similar 2 dis years venue as it waz top.

With the name of Allah (swt) im sure everything will go well, insh'Allah!

"Duniya toh badalti rehti hai...Ey mere Quaid tuh kabhi Na badal janaa"

salaam

i will share my views on a future camp... im sure most of you will disagree but thats me..

1. 3 days is more than enough...any more makes it difficult for people to attend, esp. those that work

2. the camp this year was expensive, if you increase the price then it puts ppl off, plus some ppl cant afford it, especially when u have more than 1 person in a family....i know many who didnt attend cos of the cost

3. you dont need a spectacular venue...if the camp is mainly to gain knowledge and listen to the lectures of the shaykh. if the camp includes many sports and creative activities then a bigger better venue is needed

4. the camp should have shorter but more talks of the shaykh, also more workshops, discussion sessions, training sessions on dawah techniques, media, misconceptions and even some events like islamic quizzes, islamic who wants to be a millionaire, etc..

5. topics of the shaykh should be on more relevent topics like misconceptions of islam, identity, youth issues, challenges facing muslims in uk etc

6. should be several Q & A sessions

7. should have several tests or short exams at the end of the camp to see what we have learnt

8. more media should be invited to the camp for coverage and a must should be a press conference with the shaykh at the camp

9. if the camp is for MQ supporters only, then ideology and methodology of the organisation should be taught in several sessions, so you can create daee's who understand the viewpoint and mission of the organisation

10. text should be provided before the camp which includes the subjects that will be covered..and a list of further reading should be a must

11, at every camp youth projects for the year should be set up, so ppl go away for the year and have tasks and work of dawah to do ...

pls share your views

wasalaam

I agree with much of what you said…

However regarding prices, it’s important to realise that to hire out a venue costs a LOT of money…especially those that include food as well. The costs need to be covered somehow….and lectures etc are all free.

Last time to book a venue which accommodates for 300 people…admission was £100 to cover costs (with some concessions)…this time if a venue gets hired out which accommodates for 500 people then obviously the admission fee will be a lot more.

I think if people are given adequate notice then they can save up…

I’m sure if this event can get sponsored and donations get sent the admission fee can be reduced a bit.

Wasalam

Mash'Allah! long list Biggrin

Well i agree with every single point apart 4rm point 1 but i do understand ur point of view as i wrk myself but can get away wid it sumtimes as i dnt hav many holidayz Wink

Yes! the camp waz expensive this year n dats y many pple 4rm dwn our area never went n many did complain so if they increase the price over £100 i wnt complain (i just need permission) but many pple will do.

What id like 2 point out 4 the camp is sum precious time with our Shaykh separete, even if its 30mins just with the sisters n our Shaykh its enuf atleast we can speak 2 him easier, same goez 2 brothers separete.

Many people here complained as well..…but then there were some who even paid £250 for a place.
