How to Loose Friends and Alienate People.

Seraphim —

Do you sometimes feel being religious sometimes alienates you from people around you. Or even cause you to loose friends?

"No im sorry, i cant come meet you coz unrelated guys and girls cant be alone togeather."

Or

"No im sorry, I cant go in there bcoz i dont want anything to do with a place that sells alcohol."

or

"Sorry I cant attend this party, coz free mixing ... not really allowed."

And

"No I cant look at you, anything more than a glance is strictly forebidden."

Im sure you guys can think of some of your own. But you get the general idea.

and yes, it can be limiting.

But then again, I rarely meet people in halaal circumstances, so I doubt I would be much for socialising even if there were no restrictions.

But yeah, i do agree wit wat seraphy said. It is possible to loose some of your non-muslim friends like this 😢 but we try to be as flexible as Islam allows. And in the end if my mates cant understand that then they aint as good as mates as i thought.

One word: NO.

I feel Islam is VERY modern, unfortunately the same can't be said for Muslims. Islam says you shouldn't STARE at people of the opposite sex, but looking them in the eye and having a general talk with them is not a way to Hell.
About booze and all that, most good friends will understand why you can't/won't so they'd respect that, right?

I have lost many friends because of this. It's not that I said anything in the way you posted, but i DID stop clubbing and pubbing etc. , and this meant we drifted apart.

TBH, the friends that replaced them are much better, alhamdulillah!
