Unable To Access (resolved?)

Cant seem to access therevival website from home at all. Ive been trying since the weekend but it keeps saying 'Unable to Access' or something like 'The connection reset'. I can access any other website but just not the revival. Im currently at work so obviously the websites not down or anything.
Ive tried it with different browsers (Firefox (my normal browser) and IE) same problem. I then thought it might be problem with my computer, ran a full spyware and anti-virus scane. Still cant access. I then tried a different computer in the house, and that couldnt access the revival website either. Ive tried switching the firewall on and off, but no effect.
Im gonna try bipassing the router when i get home today to see if its something to do with that.

Any other thoughts or ideas would be helpful.

who else uses the comp? are you sure it's not blocked by parental control gibrish?

if nothing works, try reseting the computer.

Ah ha so its not just my computer then. I thought my brother might have deliberately blocked this website to get back at me. The only way i can access this site at home is through this site

http://hidemyprivacy.com.

Hope the above helps Seraphim.

Its my computer, so no one else uses it. There are no parental control thingys on it. So its not that. I dont think reseting the computer will work. Bcoz, like i said i also tried a different computer at home (attached to the same network) and that wouldnt access the revival either.
The only other thing they have in common is the router conntecting them both to the internet. So im gonna try bipassing that.

IF NOT... then the only other thing it could be is either server issues or a problem with my ISP.

@Naz: Thanx for the link, ill give it a try and see what happens.

I can handle clouds, but cant fight with an eclipse.

ah well you know best abt your comp and connections... i guessing its working?

The problem is with Virgin Media/Cable & Wireless - which A LOT of people use, either directly (in the case of VM) or indirectly (other ISP's buy bandwidth off cable and wireless). In total I would estimate that around 40% of our visitors are being affected by this.

Sky seem to work as an ISP, not tested any others.

I am currently on here via a free VPN system - Hotspot Shield by anchorfree. Can't vouch for their security, but they work (and also give you an american IP so it can get around other tricky services which only work in yankeeland... and it is a simple system which can be turned off when not being used.)

I rang VM - they deny the problem is at their end, but they lie.

It may not be a problem direct with their DNS server, but running tracert, the place where the connection dropped is ***.atlas.cogentco.com, a place where VM is routing their traffic though.

(What was funny though was being accused of sabotaging the site. Something I wopuld totally do, but not this time. Razz)

The enemy of my enemy is my... enemy.

Since they're not willing to admit fault, i guess they're not gonna do anything about it anytime soon.
Is it not possible to access the website via a different server? Other than having to resort to accessing through these websites?

wouldnt creating a static ip fix the problem.

People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid.

The website already HAS a static IP address. This ip address is being blocked.

On a awindows machine which cannot access the site, go to the command prompt and type in "tracert therevival.co.uk" - you will see that the ip address is not the problem.

are you telling me that the revival is under inspection?

Virgin Media are complete and utter A*******! They amount of times ive kicked off with them over the phone. When i have a problem with the net and i ring them they always say we will not charge you for the phone call but they bill my dad every time. I find that the best tactic that works for me every time is tell them your gonna switch over to sky if they dont solve the problem lol.

I just have 2 'words' for those who are with virgin media : ha ha

Are you suggesting that you thought The Revival would not be under surveillance? Oh the naivety.

It is possible that the site/those involved are not under surveillance, but I would not give it good odds.

This is nothing to do with the law, just a router that VM are using.

PS even other ISP's use VM. They may use the BT line, but then they reroute over the VM networks, so they may also be affected.

And I have to say, VM have been surprisingly... ok. Nothing to worry about.

so guys tb at 4.30 bring the chemz and ill have the manual.

And it didnt help that he just bought books over the internet that were supposedly banned here.

I thought britain had freedom of speech. It must be REALLY dodgy if its banned here.

i was about to say he bought a harun yahya book but thought against it.

I thnk one of them was a harun yahya book whilst the other was something like how the west are the real terrorists or something like that. It was funny, coz it looked like the bank was carefully going through his account.

Interesting. (not enough for me to do anything about it, but nevertheless interesting to note.)
