erm... sometimes you do specific actions that are different from others.

Sometimes you dont.

best way is to ask I guess.

being of one madhab or another is not a bad thing, but finding out and clarifying can be good as it can help avoid confusion on why people do things differently.

also something to remember is that madhabs/rulings can have context that changes from time to time.

A lot of the rulings can be influenced by the "common sense" of the time - something which may no longer be the common sense thing due to different culture or technological change.
