Xperia X10 meets Android 2.1

It has been a while since I talked about my phone.

Today, I got impatient with T-Mobile releasing the latest softweare update for my phone, so I debranded it to generic firmware and then updated it to the latest released version for my phone - Android 2.1 (Eclair - all the android versions are named after deserts) to get all the new goodies.

There is the live walpapers that other android phones have now had for yonks, updated web browser, and an updated lock screen that shows more information.

An unexpected thing is that the theme for the phone is slightly tweaked making the text size larger, and that will take some time getting used to.

A bigger problem is that I changed the firmware on my phone from branded to unbranded for this - this is a sort of hack, but hopefully I will not be out of recieving official support.

The reason that it may be a problem is that recently when using the GPS functionality on my phone... for instance in Google Maps (its got navigation built in) or another app called speedview, which can tell you what speed you are travelling at (and also somehow spookily find out when you are going over the limit!), the phone has a habit of crashing.

There was an outside possibility that this problem was a software one, so a software update would fix it.

But the problem is still there with the occasional intermittent freeze/hang/reboot when using Google Maps, so I may need to send it in for repairs.

I wonder how kindly they will look on me having flashed it to generic firmware (which si still official firmware, so not hacked etc, just not the one my phone operator would want me to use).

I was aware of this potential issue before updating, but I couldn't help myself.

Why do you have a phone?

It's like a watch with a very big screen.

boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

My fone has issues. It turns itself on when its in my bag and if i accidently slide it it unlocks and if i then click on a button accidently then its more than likely to fone someone :/

by accidently i mean from outside of my bag - yeh im not sure how that works either :/

Also i did think my fone was a genius cuz the alarm goes off even when it's off - but that probably happens with all fones?
