For the Muslim, the Qur’an is not only a book to be understood but also a book to be appreciated. Its language has awed scholars for centuries and yet most only get exposed to it in translation through which most if not all of its incredibly beauty fades. This seminar unveils for English speaking audiences the mystery of why the Arabic of the Qur’an is divinely beautiful.

This class is an enriching experience for every Muslim, and provides motivation to further one’s connection with the Glorious book of Allah and gain a deeper appreciation for its magnificent beauty.

Over 1.5 million Muslims live in the UK, many in poor socioeconomic circumstances and facing social exclusion and discrimination, yet there is a paucity of research on Muslim mental health, in particular on adolescents. This study investigates whether psychological distress is greater in Muslim adolescents in comparison with their non-Muslim counterparts and whether distress is associated with level of ‘Westernisation’, sense of ‘Britishness’ and perceived discrimination.

What do you think of widowers who remarry only for an in house nanny to raise their kids?

Assalamu assalaikum,

What do you think of widowers who remarry after their wives have died simply because they don't want to get their hands out their pockets and raise their kids. They think its a womans job, i can't or i won't do it?

I bring this up because it often occurs within my community, and its happened twice under severe circumstances, and quite recently. In both cases the women were very young and terminally ill with cancer, leaving behind very young children, infants.

Considering the government fully support single parents and widows/widowers in this country, it's not as if these men couldn't remain at home and raise their infants or older kids alone.
