As the facts surrounding the murder of 16-year-old Aqsa Parvez at the hands of her father surface, we begin to see a small sample of what many Muslim teens have to deal with on daily basis in this country. Aqsa was increasingly becoming estranged from her family because she did not wish to observe Islam in the way her parents wanted her to. As a result of her choice, her life was brutally snuffed out.

Hajj 2007: Advice to British Hajjis

Planning to make the Hajj?
Birmingham Muslims planning to make the Hajj - the annual pilgrimage to Mecca - are being advised by Trading Standards to be on their guard for unscrupulous tour operators. Travellers undertaking the Hajj may find that they are being asked to pay for visas which should be free of charge.

Trading Standards in Birmingham are working with the Association of British Hujjaj (Pilgrims) UK (ABH) to raise awareness of tour companies that operate unfair or illegal practices.

Protest @ Pakistani consulate in Manchester, Friday 2.30pm

University of Manchester Student Union are holding a protest outside the Pakistani Consulate on Dickinson Road in Rusholme this Friday at 2:30.

We need solidarity at this time, and people need to come out on the streets and articulate their joint sense of frustration and anger.
